Netflix shared a 2021 Summer Movie Preview video earlier today which features teasing snippets of footage from the likes of Blue Miracle, Wish Dragon, Skater Girl, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, and Sweet Girl, but what really caught our attention was a first look at an upcoming R-rated animated feature from Archer creator Matt Thompson.
America: The Motion Picture is described as "wildly tongue-in-cheek animated revisionist history," and boasts and impressive voice cast including Channing Tatum, Jason Mantzoukas, Olivia Munn, Bobby Moynihan, Judy Greer, Will Forte, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg.
We're really not sure what to make of this, but one of the characters seems to be some kind of RoboCop/horse hybrid, so we're obviously on board.
Check out the preview video below along with a cast announcement teaser and some images.
In this wildly tongue-in-cheek animated revisionist history, a chainsaw-wielding George Washington assembles a team of rabble rousers — including beer-loving bro Sam Adams, famed scientist Thomas Edison, acclaimed horseman Paul Revere, and a very pissed off Geronimo — to defeat Benedict Arnold and King James in the American Revolution. Who will win? No one knows, but you can be sure of one thing: these are not your father's Founding… uh, Fathers.
Thompson directs from a script by Dave Callaham (Mortal Kombat, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), while Phil Lord and Christopher Miller serve as executive producers.
America: The Motion Picture is set to hit Netflix on June 30.
