Last year during the early stages of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Netflix introduced the world to a new hero in Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), an Australian black-ops mercenary who fulfilled his mission objective before seemingly meeting his end. But, as we've known for a while now, his mission is far from over.
During the second hour of their TUDUM event, Netflix shared the first official teaser for Extraction 2, which will see Hemsworth return in a starring role with Sam Hargrave back in the director's chair and Joe Russo penning the script. The Russo Brothers will also return as producers.
Golshifteh Farahani is expected to reprise her role as Nik Khan, but no word on the rest of the cast just yet, although with production slated to begin this fall in Prague, we should expect to get some big updates in the coming weeks.
The first film proved to be a massive success for the streaming giant, quickly becoming the most-watched Netflix Original movie of all time last year, and bringing in over 99 million households worldwide in the first four weeks after its April 2020 debut.
Check out the announcement teaser, which features only a tiny piece of new footage near the very end, below:
