The Book of Boba Fett didn't quite manage to blow Star Wars fans away, and that was mostly down to some baffling creative decisions. A lot of time in the Bacta Tank, a watered-down take on the bounty hunter, and that biker gang were all contributing factors, though there was still fun to be had with the series (primarily when it basically became The Mandalorian season 2.5).
With Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth clearly set to become one of Fett's allies as he continues attempting to enforce his rule over Tatooine, there are surely more stories to be told. With any luck, that will lead to a somewhat more badass portrayal of Fett, though Lucasfilm has yet to share any official news on future plans.
Talking at Fan Expo Boston this past weekend (via SFFGazette.com), The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett star Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec Shand in the series, shared a possible update on season 2 plans.
"Second season of The Book of Boba Fett...I hope [so]!" she told fans. "I never count my chickens before they hatch, because in this business, you just never know. But, knock on wood, they’ll be announcing that soon."
"Soon" could be next month's Disney+ Day, though it was surprising that Lucasfilm made no mention of The Book of Boba Fett at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year. Viewership for the series was believed to be good, but it doesn't appear as if the studio is necessarily in any rush to return to this corner of the Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Wen certainly sounds positive, though, so we'd like to think that news is coming about the show's future in the next few weeks.
