We were told to expect some big surprises in the final two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, and today's penultimate instalment most certainly didn't disappoint.

Plenty of familiar faces showed up (more on them later), but perhaps the most exciting moment for fans of the animated side of the galaxy far, far away saw the live-action debut of notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane.

There were rumors that Bane might appear in the Disney+ series, but after Fett and Fennec Shand began to recruit muscle for their war with the Pykes over the course of the last few episodes, many assumed we'd see the mercenary side with Lord Fett.

Not so. True to his ruthless nature, the Duros sharp-shooter sold his services to the highest bidder, and after gunning down Cobb Vanth (he appeared to survive) on behalf of the Pyke Syndicate, the stage has been set for a face-off with Fett, Shand and Din Djarin in next Wednesday's season finale.

Check out Cad Bane's live-action debut below.

Seeing him walking in the distance, with the trademark hat, then the slick reveal of his gun and tilting his head back...chills upon chills. That Western stand-off was sublime. Feels like a finale homage to the Magnificent Seven is bout to take place, all teaming up to take on these new bandits who've infiltrated the town

The shots of him the far distance. The slow strides toward the town center. The way he kept his head tilted down. The tension that built up to him revealing his face. Chef’s kiss.

Episode kicked ass pretty hard. I don't know how they improved the tech on Luke, but he looked flat-out amazing. I'm looking forward to the ILM BTS video on that. My only complaint is we still haven't gotten any of the OG Bounty Hunters!

@Waddles - Yep, his deepfake is awesome. I just wish they would go and update that episode so he could look better. They did it when they took out the random crew guy in the shot.

@Steel86 - they really should. it wouldn't be hard to re-release the episode on D+

@Waddles - That really does explain it, when I knew they were about to show Skywalker I was thinking well he’s going to look hidden valley or Death Valley or Van nuys or whatever it is as all get out, nope. It’s more like I was looking for the mistakes rather than just seeing them wide-open, so that was refreshing. Super super good. And I’m glad that dude found an opportunity to make a whole Lotta money

@TheWalkingCuban - Imagine how many dipshits are going to try to ride his coattails now haha, nothing but crappy Star Wars deepfakes left and right. But good for him! Sometimes talent gets you far.

@BestAtWhatIDo - yeah I’ve seen some of his previous stuff and in one sense

It’s scary. The implications.

But enough future fearing, good on Disney to hire the guy. And hopefully others can do it too, there are other movie studios after all

@TheWalkingCuban - Oh for sure, in this world of misinformation, it's troubling. If only the average American were more media-skeptical.

Do we know who is providing the body/face for makeup and FX?

I know the voice is Corey Burton, but is he phisically playing the role?

@JayBarrick - not sure but Cad Bane looks amazing took me a second to realize it was him from the distance. I was literally f-ing way they are actuality bringing him into live action 🙌🏽🙌🏽😭😭🥺🥺🥺

@TheAcuario - as soon as I saw him in the distance I was like "theres no way the Pikes hired Cad Bane. no way."

@JayBarrick - I was never a fan of the animated Cad Bane, found him nowhere near as intimidating as his voice, but this live action version rules. I think it's the more human proportions on the face and the fangs.

I wish I could love this all more than I did, but between abandoning the main storyline of the show and having Luke and Ahsoka fail to learn from history and start peddling the Jedi's old BS code, it's so darn frustrating.
