The Disney+ Cassian Andor series was scheduled to commence production in London this June and continue filming through December, but like pretty much every other currently shooting or in-development project, it's been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the guys over at The Illuminerdi have got their hands on an updated synopsis which give us a slightly better idea of what to expect from the Rogue One spinoff.
"Follows the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."
While light on plot details, the logline does seemingly set the tone, and it sounds like Disney+ and writer/director Tony Gilroy plan on taking us on an espionage-heavy journey through the more shadowy recesses of the galaxy far, far away.
The Americans producer Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner on the untitled series, which was set to premiere at some point next year. Of course, that's all up in the air now, but we'll keep you updated on any further developments.
