New Updates On Release Date Delays For THE MANDALORIAN Season 4, SKELETON CREW, And ANDOR Season 2

A new report claims to shed light on when The Mandalorian season 4, The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, and Andor season 2 will be released on Disney+, and they're all coming later than we'd expected and hoped.

Originally, we'd heard that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was going to be released at the end of 2023, but with literally just a month of the year left, we've been aware for some time now that it wouldn't be here in time for the holidays.

Filming is thought to have wrapped in January, hence why fans at Star Wars Celebration were treated to a trailer. Now, both Bespin Bulletin and Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com) are reporting that the Disney+ series created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford has been delayed by an entire year.

Some might argue that, when it never had an official premiere date, the show can't technically have been delayed. It's a fair observation, but this is still a much longer wait than we'd expected. As things stand, The Mandalorian spin-off won't arrive until Thanksgiving - Christmas, 2024.

The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike no doubt has a role to play here and it seems The Acolyte will be first to arrive next year (likely late summer) with Andor season 2 pushed to 2025 after previously being confirmed for an August '24 launch.

As for The Mandalorian season 4, it seems the strikes have benefited that series from a creative standpoint, but it too is unlikely to be released until 2025. That's a little disappointing, of course, but on the plus side, we are anticipating seeing The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, The Bad Batch, and Tales of the Jedi next year.

"I can't tell you very much about my character," Skeleton Crew star Jude Law previously said of his mysterious Jedi. "He is someone the children meet on their attempt to get home. He is like a lot of the world that they experience: contradictory, and at times a place of nurture and other times a place of threat."

"Because it's through their eyes, at times there's a sort of goofy nature and a goofy relationship between the kids and the adults. And then other times it's really quite dark and quite scary, which I guess is what the world probably looks like to an awful lot of 11-year-olds."

Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, and then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home - and meeting unlikely allies and enemies - will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Jude Law leads the series and is joined by young actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon also star, while the directing team consists of Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.

Stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for the latest on all these Star Wars TV shows as we have it.

Just asking my fellow users, is Andor worth it? Couldn't really get into much.

@lazlodaytona - I think it was. As a Star Wars show it didn't offer much of Star Wars, but as a standalone it jad a solid story, interesting characters and a cool vibe. It just happened to be set in the Star Wars universe

@lazlodaytona - Unequivocally yes. You ever wondered what a Star Wars show/movie would look like when they weren’t trying to recapture the ‘magic’ of the originals? What it’d look like if they actually did a fully fledged spy thriller and did it well? That’s Andor.

Think three full shows is enough anyway (not counting Tales). The Acolyte, The Bad Batch & Skeleton Crew in 2024, and Andor, The Mandalorian & Lando in 2025 would be a good release slate imo. Ahsoka could wait until 2026.

I saw Godzilla Minus One last night best Godzilla ever. Better than all the Hollywood stuff out there. Godzilla Minus One is an Origin story. 5 Stars / Stars for me.

It is not hyperbole to say Godzilla Minus One is perhaps one of the finest movies of the kaiju genre ever put to screen since Ishiro Honda’s Gojira kicked off the franchise in 1954.

"Filming is thought to have wrapped in January, hence why fans at Star Wars Celebration were treated to a trailer."

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

But one last time . . .

"which is why fans at Star Wars Celebration were treated to a trailer."

or

"hence the trailer that fans at Star Wars Celebration were treated to."

"Hence why" isn't anything. Please, please stop.
