Obi-Wan Kenobi has taken fans on one heck of a ride, but for many, it's seeing Hayden Christensen back as Darth Vader that's been the show's biggest highlight. The series has delivered some great action with the Sith Lord, while those glimpses at the scarred remains of Anakin Skywalker have revealed the torment he goes through after being defeated by Obi-Wan on Mustafar.

Talking to THR (via SFFGazette.com), Christensen reflected on a number of key moments in the show, including the scene where Anakin awakens inside his Bacta Tank just moments after his old Master and former best friend learns that Darth Vader is still very much alive.

"There’s just so much history to that relationship," the actor started. "There is obviously a great bond that was broken, and I think Vader is still very much affected by that. That first shot in the bacta tank when you see Vader opening his eyes, the idea is that Obi-Wan is connecting with him and coming to his attention again."

So, there is a connection between the two. This explains the vision Ben had of Anakin in the third episode, not to mention how Vader was seemingly able to track Obi-Wan down for what proved to be a very one-sided lightsaber battle. For Christensen, that's a fight he believes didn't play out the way his villain would have wanted.

"Well, I think that came as a shock to Vader to see how disconnected from the Force Obi-Wan is at this point," he explains. "I think Vader wants Obi-Wan to be able to put up more of a fight. I don’t want to say too much [about what’s to come.]" It sure sounds like a rematch is on the way, eh?

The full interview is worth checking out, but Christensen was once again asked about potentially playing Vader in a spinoff series down the line (we know he'll be back for Ahsoka), and he showed a great deal of enthusiasm. "Absolutely! To get to do more with this character would be amazing!" We'll be keeping everything crossed.

The fifth episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on Disney+ tonight/tomorrow morning. Be sure to check SFFGazette.com then for our in-depth breakdown of all the biggest moments and reveals.

I'm glad Hayden is enthusiastic to be back and he's done really well with the role so far in the series, but I think a Vader spin-off would be a bad idea. Vader at his best is a commanding, fearful presence, and the glimpses of his humanity are best seen through the eyes of others (e.g. Luke in the original trilogy)

If a series were to focus on him and be told from his perspective I think it would just give too much away. But I'd definitely be down for more Hayden in the armour, I just think the character works better in an antagonistic or "supporting" role - I think a show about the Inquisitors hunting the surviving Jedi under his orders would be a good fit, kinda like an inverted version of Rebels from a Dark Side perspective, and maybe we can see some of the conflict within the Inquisitors with some of them devoted to their mission, some looking to betray the others in their own quest for power, and some who are conflicted between their past lives as Jedi and their current life hunting the rest of them down.

I would watch a Vader spin-off, IMO it seems like a no-brainer.
