"He's more machine now than man... twisted and evil."

The Obi-Wan Kenobi coverage continues, and on the heels of yesterday's trailer and promo images, EW has shared a first look at the returning Hayden Christensen as one of the most iconic villains in cinema history, Darth Vader.

It's not a particularly revealing shot, but we do see Vader's unmistakable silhouette as he emerges from his meditation chamber. Previously leaked concept art has suggested that we will see Christensen's face at some point, but the actor is not about to give anything away.

"I wish I could tell you," the prequel trilogy star says when asked about the possibility of Vader removing his helmet. "I'm sworn to secrecy." One thing the actor did promise, however, is: "We're going to see a very powerful Vader."

Whether we'll actually witness Vader and Kenobi cross lightsabers again remains to be seen, but we have been assured than the old friends turned bitter enemies will cross paths for some sort of confrontation.

"His shadow is cast across so much of what we do," adds series writer Joby Harold. "And the degree of his proximity to that shadow is something that we'll discover. But he is very much a part of the show emotionally for Obi-Wan, and possibly beyond that as well."

Obi-Wan Kenobi also stars Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, and is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25.

I don't know a lot about star wars lore. Seems like their version of Joker at this point. Are there there no other compelling villains? Where's that Thrawn I keep hearing about in these events?

@NakedAvenger - well I'd argue Darth Vader is one of, if not the most recognizable character in pop culture. Might as well use him

@NakedAvenger - he will be there to command inquisitors nothing else. maybe he will fight and kill jedi that they find. no scenes between him and obiwan will take place.

@bkmeijer - He won an academy award for best villain ever, it's true look it up! ;)

But seriously though he does top almost all "Best Villain Lists" for any character from movie's, tv, books or wherever

@NakedAvenger - I think that LucasFilm is trying to get as much out of James Earl Jones while they can before he passes away and we have to say bye to Vader.

Growing up others mention being scared of Darth Vader, but I always thought he looked cool rather than scary.

The childhood villain I was scared of was the T1000, had recurring nightmares about him for years

@SimplyAz - It happens. Robert Patrick does have the best Pelvic thrust in the Peacemaker theme song. Nothing like some Wig Wam!

@SimplyAz - Other than The Batman, Joker, or WW...Best thing DC has put out IMO! It took weeks to get my daughter to watch it. I showed her this vid and she watched the first ep. She was hooked after that. We did an ep or two nightly. LOL, for a week she has been singing "Do You Wanna Taste It!"

Sounds great, glad you're daughter liked it as well, always fun when you're kids like the same stuff as you.

I'm going to watch it with my son, he's a massive wrestling fan and loves action comedies as well.
He's a Teenager so will definitely enjoy it.

looks like darth vader. k

here is what is going to happen. everyone wants obiwan to interact or fight with vader. it wont happen. and because disney is a big bag of shit that thinks light sabers is all that star wars is. they are going to use inquisitors to be in the show. there is no guarantee that they will even find him. look how [frick]ing bland and boring boba fett was. nothing to do. nothing happened. they had to make 2 out of the 7 episodes about the mandolorian. this show will have soo much inquisitor shit stuffed into it just to pad it out.

That was 100% my impression until Mandalorian.

@Fogs - they have to have a force wielding baby, asoka and luke on the show.

@grif - At least wasn't based around it. But yeah, S1 was better.
