"He's more machine now than man... twisted and evil."
The Obi-Wan Kenobi coverage continues, and on the heels of yesterday's trailer and promo images, EW has shared a first look at the returning Hayden Christensen as one of the most iconic villains in cinema history, Darth Vader.
It's not a particularly revealing shot, but we do see Vader's unmistakable silhouette as he emerges from his meditation chamber. Previously leaked concept art has suggested that we will see Christensen's face at some point, but the actor is not about to give anything away.
"I wish I could tell you," the prequel trilogy star says when asked about the possibility of Vader removing his helmet. "I'm sworn to secrecy." One thing the actor did promise, however, is: "We're going to see a very powerful Vader."
Whether we'll actually witness Vader and Kenobi cross lightsabers again remains to be seen, but we have been assured than the old friends turned bitter enemies will cross paths for some sort of confrontation.
"His shadow is cast across so much of what we do," adds series writer Joby Harold. "And the degree of his proximity to that shadow is something that we'll discover. But he is very much a part of the show emotionally for Obi-Wan, and possibly beyond that as well."
Obi-Wan Kenobi also stars Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, and is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25.
