Lucasfilm has kicked Star Wars Day off in style with a new trailer and poster for Obi-Wan Kenobi that, while briefer than we would have liked, delivers plenty of thrilling moments and a massive tease.
In this sneak peek, we see more of "Ben" Kenobi's life on Tatooine, and learn that the Sith Inquisitors are most definitely on the hunt for the Jedi Master. That's at the behest of Darth Vader, of course, and we get a glimpse of how the Sith Lord seemingly starts his day as he's pieced together following that epic duel on Mustafar all those years ago.
The trailer doesn't drop a full-blown reveal of the villain, helping to build anticipation for a six-part event series that looks nothing short of phenomenal based on what we've seen thus far. However, the long-awaited rematch between Master and apprentice is definitely teased in a big way here.
Obi-Wan Kenobi's story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where the hero faced his greatest defeat - the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. Deborah Chow directed all six episodes of the show which premieres on May 27 with its first two episodes and wraps up on June 22 with its finale.
