THE MANDALORIAN: Lucasfilm Has Released An Official Look At This Week's Big STAR WARS REBELS Cameo

This week's episode of The Mandalorian featured a huge surprise cameo with a character from Star Wars Rebels making their live-action debut. Now, we have an official first look at them in the series...

Ahsoka is generating a lot of excitement, especially among Star Wars Rebels fans. Eman Esfandi will play Ezra Bridger in the live-action series, which will also include Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and, though it hasn't been confirmed, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla.

Much to the chagrin of fans, Zeb, also known as Garazeb Orrelios, has not been mentioned before now.

He was a Lasat Rebel who piloted the Ghost in the animated series, with prolific voice actor Steve Blum tasked with bringing the heroic pilot and warrior to life. Zeb, who became close with Ezra as the series progressed, was a Captain of the Lasan Honor Guard before joining the Rebellion.

This week's episode of The Mandalorian, "The Pirate," confirmed that Zeb is now working for the New Republic and an official shot of the beloved Rebels character has been shared on the show's social media accounts (via SFFGazette.com).

In the show's latest chapter, Zeb enters the scene after Captain Carson Teva receives a message from Greef Karga and mentions that he had thought Nevarro stood a good chance of making it. He adds that Coruscant hasn't responded to a dispatch in weeks and wishes Teva luck because he's going to need it, sounding perhaps a little disheartened with his new role.

That's a plot thread that will likely be picked up in Ahsoka, though we can't help but wonder whether original plans called for Zeb to be part of the scrapped Rangers of the New Republic series.

As you can see below, it seems Zeb is brought to life through a mixture of practical and visual effects, and that was indeed Blum once again lending his voice to the hero (the actor's son has since revealed his dad also did facial capture for the Lasat).

You can take a closer look at Zeb below.

It was really cool to see him brought to life and I’m glad they could get Steve Blum back for the voice. I’d love to see more of him. Last episode was great

I like this season so far, I just wish they were 15 episode seasons. This current model tells me we're going to get like 12 seasons of Mando lol too much

This episode was a very enjoyable one.

As a Star Wars OG having seen the original in 1977 20 times in the theaters during its first run, I have been here through it all.

First episode of The Mandalorian was just okay and set some things up for the season.
The 2nd episode was better, but it was a bit strange how quickly he made it to the mines of Mandalore.
And that cyborg crab creature guy, was he just living under Mandalore all of this time? Is he a guard of the well.
There were too many questions left unanswered and his appearance seemed more like a "we have to give The Mandalorian a threat to deal with."

Episode 3 was clearly a set up for the existence of that girl in the New Republic since she was contributing in Episode 4, and I'm sure it's all going to come together.

I asked where it was headed just before seeing Episode 4 and in this episode they started finally tying it together.

I think the biggest issue is that I literally hate that they brought Baby Yoda back so soon. I know Favreau was basically ordered to do so by Kathleen Kennedy and the Lucasfilm marketing department, and he did his best to cover his ass with the (Baby Yoda was with Luke for 2 years) crap.
That still doesn't fix it and it killed the emotional impact of the end of season 2.

That ending was beautiful and poignant. It tired up the entire first two seasons and set the stage for the next phase (Din getting the dark saber)...but then they killed it and that hurt season 3 for me.

I am not burned out on Star Wars, but I am navigating it like a dangerous mine field watching my step with every episode hoping not to step on an explosive.
