Lucasfilm has released the final trailer for Andor ahead of its premiere on September 21, and it offers an action-packed glimpse at what's to come in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series...

Lucasfilm's kicked off Disney's film and television panel with Andor, and released a final trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series (via SFFGazette.com). We also have four cool new character posters that, hopefully, will be released officially sometime before the premiere.

As for the sneak peek, it does mostly recycle footage we've already seen from the show. However, the presence of Clone Troopers is very interesting, and suggests we'll be exploring more time periods aside from the five-years leading up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The Andor cast did arrive on stage to hype up the series, but failed to bring any intel that we haven't heard before. With just over 10 days to go before the premiere, though, we can forgive Lucasfilm for trying to maintain an element of surprise when it comes to what is obviously going to be a sprawling, ambitious 24-episode story (making it the longest Star Wars TV series to date).

Andor, a spy thriller from Lucasfilm filmed over two 12-episode seasons, takes place five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The era is filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

The show presents Star Wars from a different perspective, focusing on everyday people whose lives are affected by the Empire. The decisions they make have real consequences, and the stakes for them - and the Galaxy - couldn’t be higher.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.

Andor premieres on Disney+ with its first three episodes on September 21.

Not sold. I would say bad Star Wars is better than no Star Wars but we’ve seen how that goes before.

I’ll give it a whirl though even though I like The Force Unleashed as the birth of the rebellion story better. I prefer more lightsabers in my Star Wars.

This looks like exactly the type of Star Wars content I want. Gritty, not burdened by the lore of existing characters, more grounded and human.

I hope the show keeps the vibe of the trailers and doesn’t turn into a cameo and reference fest like a lot of other modern Star Wars has. This looks to show the Rebellion at its most relatable as any Star Wars live action media ever has.

@mountainman - same here. At first I had no interest in Andor, but after the trailers it might the show I'm looking forward most to. Even more than Mandalorian right now (I wasn't really sold on that trailer)

@bkmeijer1 - I loved the first season of The Mandelorian, when it was basically a Star Wars western/samurai story.

Season 2 was still good, but the cameo of the week got a little old. I’m hoping that Season 3 stands on its own well and doesn’t feel the need to incorporate a million different characters from other Star Wars shows/movies.

@mountainman - agreed. I think we'll get some cameos or references, since I think we will delve into Mandalorian history a bit (including Maul and Kenobi).

@bkmeijer1 - I never watched the cartoons but I’m somewhat aware of the fall of Mandalore story. I’m ok with some cameos. Bo Katan makes sense. If Maul and Obi Wan serve the story - fine. I just don’t want to see something like season 2 where we have cameos with the purpose of kicking off other shows. That being said, I really did enjoy the Ashoka episode. I just want story first and whoever serves that can appear.

@mountainman - true. I think the appearances in Season 2 worked to well enough, but I agree they always have to serve the arc of a show

@mountainman - Bail Organa is in this, I'm not sure if C-3PO and R2-D2 will make an appearance. K2SO appears in season 2, he must reprogram him.

@Timerider84 - Later season 2 episodes will probably have lots of Rogue One cameos including Felicity Jones in the last episode.

This thing looks gorgeous. Was it shot on film.

Didn't we already get to see real Clone Troopers in Kenobi? Because I remember thinking at one point: ''damn, these Clone Troopers look really good in live-action''.

Anyway, it's cool to see them here again. The Phase 2 is still my favorite design for the white troopers we've seen so far in Star Wars. And the rest of the trailer (and hopefully the whole show) looks pretty damn good too.

@bkmeijer1 - we saw some clone troopers in a Grogu flashback in Boba Fett and a hobo-clone trooper in Obi-Wan

@globaltravels - oh yeah, totally forgot about the Grogu flashback. Still odd that we got that bit in Boba Fett's show though

A beautiful looking series, if anything.
I’ve liked what we’ve gotten of the rapid transition from republic to empire in series like the Bad Batch so far.

I'm seriously impressed.

Now let's hope the writing doesn't suck ass, cause Rogue One was pretty boring ffs.

I'm confused.

Andor takes place Five years before A New Hope (Episode IV) BBY
https://nerdist.com/article/where-does-andor-fit-in-the-star-wars-timeline/

The Empire got rid of Clones by five years before A New Hope.

"By around 5 BBY in the Canon timeline, before the beginning of Star Wars: Rebels, almost all active-duty Stormtroopers were ordinary recruits."
https://screenrant.com/star-wars-empire-imperial-stormtroopers-clones-replace-when/

So why are there Clone troopers in Andor?
Timerider84
Timerider84 - 9/11/2022, 1:29 PM
@TyrantBossMedia - because the story follows Andor in a flashback as a kid. He witnesses these Clone troopers arrive. He even talks about it in the trailer. He walks right in and begins to watch and mimic them.

That part of the story is right after Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith.

When he's an adult it's 5 years before A New Hope. There are huge jumps in time, which will show on screen.

Looks OK but it's Disney so lower expectations.

The positive: It’s made by the people who made Rogue One.

The negative: But it’s also made by Disney.
