It looks like The CW has finally found a villain for its upcoming Powerpuff pilot, as it's being reported that the show has cast up-and-comer Nicholas Podany (Hart of DixieArchive 81) as Joseph "Jojo" Mondel Jr., the son of the original Powerpuff Girls villain, Mojo Jojo.

While his evil father was a helper chimpanzee-turned-supervillain, Junior will be human (as far as we know), with a character breakdown that reads, "As a kid, the nerdy, power-hungry, insecure JoJo was obsessed with The Powerpuff Girls, despite his father’s grudge against them. As an adult, JoJo finds his sweetness and rage in constant battle."

As previously reported, Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Valley Girl) will play Blossom, Dove Cameron (DescendantsBarely Lethal) will play Bubbles, and newcomer Yana Perrault will play Buttercup. Former Scrubs star Donald Faison (Scrubs; Clueless; Remember the Titans) has been cast as their father/creator Professor Drake Utonium.

Filming is expected to begin soon, with the principal cast having already arrived in Atlanta, so it's probably safe to expect more casting news in the coming days. While unconfirmed, it seems probable that some combination of Miss Sara Bellum, Ms. Keane, and the Mayor will also play a part in the series.

The story will pick up with America’s former pint-sized superheroes having grown into disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
