New Extended Promo For THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Season 6 Episode 16: "The Downward Spiral"

New Extended Promo For THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Season 6 Episode 16: "The Downward Spiral"

TVD heads into its hiatus on a note that was slightly somber, as one cast member said goodbye, fairly joyful, as two friends reunited, and extremely intriguing, as someone unexpected made an appearance.

Caroline flipped the switch. TVD returns with all new episodes Thursday, March 12.

After a big time jump, the premiere opens with Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) still gone. While their whereabouts will be revealed quickly, the question of what happened while they were there will be a season-long arc. Elena (Nina Dobrev) will be grieving over the loss of Damon by making some surprising choices and bonding with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis), who does some bonding of his own with a woman he meets. Get ready for a handful of new faces, including a militia leader (Colin Ferguson) and a tough doctor at the university hospital (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe). Matt (Zach Roerig) will be thriving as he gets involved in the new magic-less community, while Tyler (Michael Trevino), now back to a human with the werewolf gene, will return to his testosterone-filled, hard-headed personality. Will he reconnect with Caroline (Candice Accola), whom executive producer Julie Plec says will take the loss of Bonnie and Damon "in a weird way the hardest"?

The Vampire Diaries features:
Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce
Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore
Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore
Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert
Kat Graham as Bonnie Bennett
Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes
Zach Roerig as Matt Donovan
Michael Trevino as Tyler Lockwood
Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman
Michael Malarkey as Enzo

I've watched this show from the beginning, love it! Seasons 1-3 were really great, seasons 4 & 5 were OK. Season six, a mix of great and OK. It's starting to become like Smallville & Supernatural for me, I see it's problems but I just can't stop watching... lol

@antman8o8 I need to catch up on The Originals. I stopped watching around episode 17 of season one and for some reason haven't had the desire to watch more. It may be because it's mostly Klaus doing the same stuff he did on TVD, trying to make everyone bow down before him. The only reason I decided to watch The Originals is because I love the Elijah & Rebekah characters so much. lol

Is The Vampire Diaries a comic? Is that why this show gets an article on main?

How come I never see an article about The 100? That to me, is clearly one of the best shows on CW right now.

No one ever talks about this show. :(

@MikeZ Noooooooooooooo

This show needs to be cancelled!!! PLEASE!!!

Season 2-3 were great and 5 was great but then it got stupid and way to dramatic. The Show should be called The Soap Diaries (oh plus Vampires)

@ TheMarvelMan

Hey, look, I'm not saying it's a perfect show. But it's a shame because some of the stars have more potential than they're being given. Heck, Ian Somerhalder is beloved the last I heard, and he's not doing any movies.

Just because CW has a few comic book shows now doesn't mean we need main page articles on all their other shit..
