VENOM 3 Filming Is Apparently Close To Wrapping Up And Sony Has Managed To Keep Plot Details From Leaking

These days, it's a commendable accomplishment for any superhero movie that prevents its plot from leaking before the film is released. How long do you think Sony can keep Venom 3 details under wraps?

While Tom Hardy's Venom films haven't exactly garnered a ton of praise from critics, the movies have been the lone Spider-Man Universe (SSU) spin-off films from Sony that have turned a profit at the box office.

The first Venom film was released in 2018 and earned $856.1M at the box office from a $100M production budget. A 2021 sequel, subtitled Let There Be Carnage didn't quite fare as well but still made a solid profit, earning $507M from a $110 production budget.

Sony would certainly kill for these kinds of box office returns after striking out with Morbius and Madame Web.

Recently, Variety caught up with one of the new additions in Venom 3, actress Juno Temple (Atonement, Ted Lasso) at last night's SAG Awards.

Details on who Temple is portraying are currently a mystery but the actress revealed that filming on the 'threequel' is close to wrapping up.

Said Temple, "We're coming close to an end at the moment. It's been a wild, wonderful ride. It's so new to me. It's a big set! This is crazy. It's been so much fun and I got to work with such cool people. I've been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can't wait for it to get out into the world. I think it's going to be a good one."

Venom star Tom Hardy has previously teased that the third film will likely be his final cinematic outing as Eddie Brock.  He's joined in the third film by Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave,  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Clark Backo (Designated Survivor, The Changeling). Sony has managed to keep details on who they're playing under wraps.

Filming on the sequel began on June 26, 2023, but was quickly paused in July by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. The production resumed in November and is now close to wrapping up, per Temple.

The bulk of filming took place in Los Mateos, Spain- where several set photos revealed that the location was being used as a stand-in for Mexico. A portion of the film was also shot in London.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who worked on the script for the two previous Venom films, is directing the third entry. She also penned the film's script alongside Hardy.

Venom 3 is currently slated for release in North American theaters on November 8, 2024.

Where do you think the third and final Venom film is headed? Let us know in the comment section below.

Meanwhile at Marvel Studios, almost everything about the DP3 plot has been leaked/revealed.

Only the cameos are what people will "flock" for.

Oh and Taylor Swift

@vectorsigma - and dont forget about that "paparazzi friendly" DD shoot
EgoEgor
EgoEgor - 2/25/2024, 12:28 PM
@vectorsigma - probably because people care about DP3 and most marvel movies. Just the way it is.

@vectorsigma - first, besides the leaked photos, everything else is just rumours from stupid profiles only Josh takes seriously. Second, it's always been part of the dp franchise to play with leaks since it started with a leak. They just roll with it, and as long as people go to the movies, the marketing campaign doesn't matter. People care and want to ser dp3, but no one wants venom since venom 1.

@vectorsigma - people were bitching about MS having to much green screen for existing locations.
Now people are bitching about leaks they took time for checking them out.

@EgoEgor - or they're desperate, which is more obvious lol

@EgoEgor - ...but wasn't your excuse for why venom 2 beat the mcu pandemic releases because people care more about venom?

It's amazing how people only care about these films when it suits your narrative 🙄

@vectorsigma - almost everything? what will the story be? All I've seen is that Sabretooth will likely die in it, the TVA are in it and whatever else was in the trailer.
It could be that I don't go searching for spoilers and then complain about too much being leaked, but I haven't seem much on this movie.

@vectorsigma - If you weren’t already aware by now, most tentpole franchises are being leaked nowadays. The same people that leak stuff about MS movies already have leaks on sony flicks too. They sit on this stuff and await the opportune moment since it’s profitable. Just wait a few months and you’ll see.

@BobbyDrake - I can see her showing up at the end and say ''I'm putting a team together to do so good.'' Bet Venom is on board with that
BobbyDrake
BobbyDrake - 2/25/2024, 2:08 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Yup, then Venom looks directly into the camera and says “It’s About Madame Time”

@BobbyDrake - lol exactly, I see what you did there.

And don't forget Vulture suddenly shows up to say "I think it has something to do with Spider-Man"

It's quite embarrassing how these films keep making money.
soberchimera
soberchimera - 2/25/2024, 12:50 PM
@SirDuckAlot - The sequel made almost $350M less than its predecessor so I think audiences are wising up despite it being the cinematic debut of Carnage who is one of the most popular Marvel supervillains.
Origame
Origame - 2/25/2024, 1:53 PM
@soberchimera - that was during the pandemic. It actually beat all pandemic films in theaters, including mcu films like black widow and shang chi.
soberchimera
soberchimera - 2/25/2024, 7:02 PM
@Origame - And yet F9 came out a full 3 months before and made over 700M, No Time to Die came out a few days after Venom 2 and made over $750M. Pretty sure Carnage would've easily made over 700M was it as popular as the first Venom, pandemic or not.

@soberchimera

Venom 2 didn’t have China, which contributed 300 mil to the first movies box office.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage was terrible though.

@Mercwitham0uth - agreed. The first one had moments of dumb fun that made it somewhat watchable but jfc that sequel was HORRENDOUS lol

Anyone think she could be Scream?.

Anyway , the cast is pretty good for this but still have zero interest in it honestly…

I didn’t care for the first one and even thought the sequel was a bit worse.

We are close to get a Venom trilogy, untied to Spider-man, Elektra-like quality. Surreal.

I don’t know what to expect from the third movie but if there’s another symbiote villain and no Spider-Man I won’t be seeing it.

Tom Hardy's enthusiasm in the role(s) shows. This being the last one, you know he should be giving it his all. I don't expect much from this, but I know he'll be a highlight.
