Venom: Let There Be Carnage has only been in theaters a couple of weeks, but Target has already revealed its exclusive cover art for the sequel's eventual Blu-ray release. We don't have a date on that yet, but Sony Pictures is reportedly set to respect the traditional theatrical window with this one.
It's a cool piece of imagery showing Tom Hardy's Venom squaring off with Woody Harrelson's Cletus Kasady. Unfortunately, we don't know the artist responsible for creating this imagery, but it appears as if we can expect the Venom follow-up to receive multiple special editions late 2021/early 2022.
We recently spoke to Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis about where the franchise could go next, and he expressed interest in taking Eddie Brock down that "Lethal Protector" route. "For sure. To arrive at that point, we needed to have this film to get those relationships cooking. I do think there’s huge fertile ground for Lethal Protector stories, definitely."
You can watch our full interview with Serkis above or, alternatively, read the whole thing right here.
Venom becoming a vigilante does feel like the natural next step for the character, though a meeting with Spider-Man could result in that being put on the backburner...unless Venom targets Peter Parker because he thinks he's a criminal, of course. Time will tell on that front, but Spider-Man: No Way Home should clear things up.
For now, check out this Blu-ray cover for Venom: Let There Be Carnage below:
