EA Will Follow IRON MAN Video Game With Two More Action Adventure Titles Set In The Marvel Universe

We know EA is developing an Iron Man video game, but the company has now announced that it will be followed by at least two more action-adventure titles set in the Marvel Universe. Read on for details...

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced (via GameFragger.com) that it is collaborating with Marvel on a long-term deal to develop at least three new action adventure games that will be available on consoles and PC.

Each of these games will be their own original story set in the Marvel universe (presumably meaning we can forget about any crossovers), with the first title in development being a single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man game coming our way courtesy of Motive Studios.

That was announced several weeks ago, of course, though there's currently no intel on which characters will be the focus of the other two games.

"We have been long-time fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers as well as our players and fans," said Laura Miele, COO at EA. "We look forward to welcoming Marvel into the EA family of creators and know this collaboration will produce exceptional experiences for our players."

"We can’t wait to see players' reactions when they suit up as Iron Man and do the extraordinary things this Super Hero is known for," he concluded.

Jay Ong, Executive Vice President at Marvel Games, meanwhile, adds: "At Marvel, we strive to find best-in-class teams who can take our characters on heroic journeys in ways they haven’t before and collaborating with Electronic Arts will help us achieve that."

"We pride ourselves on being enthusiastic, creative collaborators with developers so they have the freedom to create something deeply unique and truly remarkable. The team at Motive is getting started on that with their Iron Man video game and we can’t wait for players to learn more in the far future."

Developed in collaboration with Marvel, the Iron Man game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of the character, channelling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.

The team is being led by Olivier Proulx, who brings experience working on past Marvel titles like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and is joined by a dedicated team of passionate industry veterans including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier at the studio.

EA is responsible for games like Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, FIFA, Star Wars Battlefront, and Jedi: Fallen Order, so we're sure these Marvel characters are in good hands with them. They will, however, face stiff competition if they hope to match what Insomniac has done with the Spider-Man franchise (and that upcoming Wolverine title).

Cool. I am so excited for Amy Hennig's WW2-set game. Playing as a Howling Commando alongside Fury's crew. Perfect premise for an Uncharted style adventure. I am actually less excited for the Cap and BP parts haha. I would have taken a pure Howling Commandos game.

Can't wait! So exciting having to collect all 10 fingers and other armor parts out of lootboxes. To be fair that would kind of cool having 10 different Iron Man armor fingers.

This is EA and Marvel teaming up so it WILL suck and be designed around micro-transactions, loot boxes and other garbage.

An Ironman game is also releasing for VR tomorrow, Nov. 3 BTW.

Let’s hope it’s better than the pre ious Ironman game and please to make it a turn based game as I’m sick of those.

@TheSuperMex - Oh yeah, that would be perfect. Wouldn't mind a direct sequel to that.

EA seems to be turning it around. Jedi Fallen Order, It Takes Two, Mass Effects, etc. are great. Dead Space remake looks interesting.
