Ahead of its simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max release later this month, Warner Bros. has debuted a new look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot via a "Meet The Kast" featurette.

The 3-minute+ video contains interviews with most of the main cast and director Simon McQuoid, along with action-packed new footage. We've seen some of these shots in the first red-band trailer, but we also get new looks at the likes of Kabal, Goro, Mileena and Reptile(?), as well as more of that highly-anticipated showdown between Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

Fans of the popular video game series seem to be very happy with everything they've seen from this adaptation, so let's hope Mortal Kombat delivers the goods - and the fatalities - when it slices its way onto screens in 3 week's time.

In “Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family's safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.
Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

Mortal Kombat is set for a simultaneous release in theaters and on HBO Max this April 23.

I hope this is good enough to get a sequel with good production value and effects. Because some of these shots don't look that good considering it's a WB movie.

@Jaykay21 - I think a deal is in place that all the HBO Max movies go to Sky, right?

@Battabing - I think that's only happened for the snydercut so,far. I might be wrong though...however sky seems to be keeping up the pace with their own original content. 👌

Let' be honest: WB knows how to promote their movies. The trailers are always great.
Final product could end up being not well received .. but the trailers ... wow.

Still, knowing that i am still happy it looks so good. I mean ... what were the chances ? First time director could be easily replaced by some WB executive who did not liked the final product and end up being throw out of editing room. Or maybe first time director could end up being an untalented hack who got the job and [frick]ed the movie up.

The chances were slim. Really slim. Yet somehow the more footage i see i'm more confident in this and the director. I think it's gonna be great.

Looks like the dud with the huge hammer has to be Shao Khan.

It's also nice to see them giving Snya her sonic blasts.

I can hardly wait.

We have all the great characters that the fans love.

Especially Cole Young, my favorite character.

@TheDoctor1225 - I think "new Scorpion" is a little bit of a reach. Mostly because that means he would have to die first.

So I'm willing to accept him being Scorpion's son. But him becoming Scorpion would piss me off, because that would also mean Hanzo/Scorpion would have to die too.

“It’s not full CG, I promise you.”
Yeeeeeeeeeah!
Also, for such a violently thrilling looking movie that director looks a high school science teacher

@SanFranLand - I mean, Dahmer looked like a tax accountant and Bundy looked like a drama teacher himself.

Gotta look out for us science folks. A lot of us are a little off kilter to begin with.

I don't understand people complaining about the vfx, this looks way better than a mortal kombat should be.

Reiko, Reptile, Kabal, Nitara, Goro & Sub-Zero are definitely dying in this, maybe Kung Lao, Kano & Shang-Tsung. My favs are getting dusted in this. 😭

I like Reptile's MKDA look, but I can't get used to naked Reptile.

@8thDoctor - If King Lao goes tits up I riot. I don't care if its just me rioting by myself. I'll happily start a one man riot.
