We recently found out that Lewis Tan (
Iron Fist) had landed a role in the upcoming
Mortal Kombat reboot, but his part was not revealed
in the report. Well, the actor may have just provided us with a pretty big hint as to the identity of his character.
Tan is currently preparing to film his scenes for the video game adaptation, and shared the following photo to Twitter.
Mortal Kombat fans will recognize this pose a variation on one of the meditative positions adopted by Kung Lao during gameplay.
Lao is not the only possibility, of course, but with Liu Lang already cast it does seem like a fairly safe bet. Interestingly, Tan says that he's "leading the film" here, which obviously suggests he won't be playing a secondary character like Reptile or Noob Saibot.
Tan joins Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub Zero, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Lang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya and Josh Lawson as Kano.
Plot details on the new movie remain a mystery for now, but it's assumed that it'll follow the basic premise of the original video game: a group of warriors assemble to compete in a tournament to protect the Earth from the demonic forces of Outworld.
Mortal Kombat is set to commence production in South Australia later this year, and will slice its way into theaters on March 5, 2021.
