WONDER WOMAN 1984 Director Patty Jenkins Talks AMAZONS Spinoff And Teases WONDER WOMAN 3 Ties

We've known about Amazons for a while now, though it's been quite some time since we got a solid update (no great surprise considering Hollywood has essentially been closed since March). Now, with Wonder Woman 1984 heading to HBO Max on Christmas Day, director Patty Jenkins has shared a few intriguing details about what fans can expect from the spinoff.

While it's believed to be a movie, it wouldn't be overly surprising to see it become a TV series on the aforementioned streaming service, but Jenkins tells Geek Magazine (via Reddit) that this spinoff is going to pick up shortly after the events of Wonder Woman and even tie into Wonder Woman 3

"This is a story that Geoff Johns and I came up with and then introduced to [Warner Bros.]," the filmmaker explains. "The events of this story take place after Diana leaves Themyscira, the Island of the Amazons, and there are some twists and turns linked to what will happen between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3. The production of the project has not yet officially started, but I hope we get it because I love this story."

If these comments are anything to go by, we could very well see Diana Prince return to her home in the Wonder Woman threequel - a logical next step for the Amazon warrior given how long she's spent away from her friends and family (Justice League indicated that they know something of her adventures).

We'll have to wait and see how things pan out, as it seems Warner Bros. has yet to fully commit to Amazons. Unfortunately, Wonder Woman 1984's box office performance is unlikely to help push the studio into giving it the green light because those numbers simply won't matter due to the pandemic.
