WONDER WOMAN: James Gunn Shares Positive(?) Updates On Gal Gadot's DCU Status

Despite the DCU slate announcement, Gal Gadot's status as Wonder Woman remains up in the air. Now, James Gunn has shared some updates, and it sounds like the actress might be sticking around as Diana...

DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled the first part of their DCU slate earlier this week, and while several major big and small-screen projects were announced, fans weren't given definitive answers when it came to the statuses of some of the actors who joined the Warner Bros. franchise during the "Snyderverse" era.

We know Henry Cavill is out as Superman, but what about the other original Justice Leaguers?

When we learned that Warner Bros. Discover had shelved Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3, it was generally assumed that Gal Gadot would be hanging up Diana's gauntlets, but Gunn was quick to debunk a rumor that he'd given the actress "the boot," and the filmmaker has now shared another update.

Gunn was asked about Gadot's status on an Instagram post about Creature Commandos, and clarified that he and Safran "didn't let Gal go." He also revealed that he met with the Red Notice star a few weeks ago.

This would seem to suggest that Gadot is still on board as Wonder Woman and might make the jump to the DCU, but it may also be telling that Gunn won't give a direct answer about her future in the role (maybe they simply haven't decided on anything yet)?

We do know that a Paradise Lost TV series set in Themyscira is in the works, but, as far as we're aware, Wonder Woman will not feature. Maybe the first season will lay the groundwork for the character to show up at a later date?

What do you guys think? Will we see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman again? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.

@GhostDog - Why reveal it all now? We still have a covid mutated Comic Con coming up so he has to save the some news for the rest of the year. Obviously didn't mention much about Shazam, Flash, or Aquaman too as it will destroy their box offices.

Gadots producing the new WW tv show too, so anything can happen.

@AmazingFILMporg - Nah... Many people are talking (and maybe excited) for the new DCU. This is a good way to build hype while debunking stupid rumors.

@Alucard28 -

He is making people more pessimistic towards DC and debunking some thinks while making more questions.

paradise lost could be really great depending on how willing the show-runners are at taking risks. there's a lot of socio-political stuff you could mine from that premise, but i can't see it being kid-friendly if they really go all-in.

If the rumour of Mamoa being eyed for Lobo is true then Gadot could potentially become another hero/villain.

@ChangAlang -

He said actors won't play more than 1 role and Momoa said he is here to stay as Aquaman

@ChangAlang - Did you read the DC interview response to Jason as Lobo?

Safran: It's too early to say. Jason always thought Aquaman was a trilogy in his own mind, but he also loves Lobo. He's been very clear about that too. He's never going to play two characters...

Gunn: ...But we'll figure it out after Aquaman 2.

Upon re-reading this sounds like Momoa's gonna be Lobo.

But Gunn makes it sound like Aquaman 2 is post-flashpoint?

More and more I'm starting to think that Aquaman 2 will take place before Flashpoint and will have an ending where the flashpoint happens from Aquaman's POV in the same way that the snap happens from Scott's POV at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
