Warner Bros.' upcoming Barbie movie went through several incarnations (one of which was going to star Amy Schumer) before star and producer Margot Robbie boarded the project, and The Suicide Squad actress initially had a very different idea for who should play one of the many sentient dolls we'll meet in the film.
During an interview with Vogue, Robbie revealed that she actually reached out to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot to see if she'd be interested in a role, but she was unavailable.
“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”
Gadot as Barbie (or one of them, anyway) certainly could have been interesting, but after seeing the trailer, it's difficult to imagine anyone being a better fit than Robbie.

Directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie is set to hit theaters on July 19.
