Did Hugh Jackman, James Mangold and 20th Century Fox drop the ball with the casting of Dafne Keen as X-23 in Logan? The majority consensus on that topic would certainly be a resounding 'No' but would Stranger Things breakout star Millie Bobby Brown have brought something different to the role? She certainly has greater audience recognition as Keen was virtually unknown before brandishing her claws.
Brown tells Variety that she really wanted the role but was very pleased with how Keen performed. Although she obviously didn't get the part, just auditioning in front of Jackman and Mangold made her felt as if she'd 'arrived'. "I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines. Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me."
Next up for Brown is Stranger Things 2 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, while Keen awaits word on how and where X-23 will turn up next in Fox's X-Men Universe.
