BOX OFFICE: THE WOLVERINE Now On Course For $75-80M Opening Weekend

The Wolverine slashes his way back into theaters this Friday, and the Hugh Jackman-starrer is now expected to gross a solid $75-80M in its opening weekend (higher than the previously reported $70M, but still lower than the $85M debut for 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

This Friday sees the release of 20th Century Fox's The Wolverine, in which Hugh Jackman returns as the most popular X-Men character. Initial tracking for the Japanese-set installment suggested a $70M opening weekend, which is solid, but lower than the $85M debut gross of 2009's critically panned X-Men Origin: Wolverine. Now, The Wolverine is expected to open with an impressive $75-80M. In addition to a North American theatrical release, the film is also launching in 62 other markets, such as the United Kingdom and Russia. Reviews have been good so far, with a 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 36 reviews, which will only help The Wolverine be very successful; not to mention that it's the only new wide release this weekend, which is refreshing. That would be incredibly epic!!! There was nothing but positivity coming out of the mouths of those who saw the footage at comic con. Plus I'm a huge spidey fan so I'm already set to see it either way whether it be theater or you-tube!

Im gonna watch this so Fox will get my money partly due to watching First Class 2 years ago and expecting shit but getting a gem of a movie, however i feel shitted on from Origins especially after i paid admission after watching that bootleg expecting a different movie. So all in all this movie should make less then Origins because they already lost some trust with their fans

Man I hope this movie turns out good, everything Ive heard about it seems like its a breath of fresh air from all the big action extravaganzas of the past couple of years. I mean I like a good explosion and body count as much as the next complete [frick]ing sociopath but I need some different type of action already.
