X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX - New Images Feature Jean Grey, Mystique, Professor X & More - Possible SPOILERS Ahead
On the heels of their big cover reveal, EW has debuted our first batch of official stills from Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and they seemingly hint at some potentially SPOILER-Y plot details...
Following this morning's cover reveal and our first look at Jessica Chastain as The Skrull Queen(?), EW has debuted a full batch of stills from Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and they provide an awesome glimpse of what to expect from the next instalment in the mutant movie franchise.
The pics feature returning characters such as Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Professor Xavier (James McAvoy), and we also get another couple of shots of Sophie Turner as both Jean Grey and the fiery Phoenix.
Be warned, though, one of the images definitely seems to hint at a pretty major plot point so if you aren't already aware of what that might be and don't want to be SPOILED, click no further!

Mutants In Space
As we already know, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will send the team into space for the first time, and this concept art depicts the moment their ship is hit with a solar flare which ignites the Phoenix Force within Jean Grey.
If you look closely, you can see Jean floating among the debris.
Jessica Chastain's Mysterious Baddie
Though she hasn't been named yet, it's now all-but confirmed that Jessica Chastain will be playing The Skrull Queen (or at least, a variation on her), and the character is described as "Quiet but brutal."
"Simon and I were talking about the character and I said, 'I keep thinking of the vet who tells you you need to put your dog down,'" says the Molly's Game actress of her inspiration. "There’s something very clinical about it."
Mystique Makeover
Jennifer Lawrence returns as Mystique, and she's sporting a slightly different appearance this time around, along with a new maternal attitude.
"She’s grown up a lot," says Lawrence. "She’s more maternal which surprised me. She starts to get more protective of the [school] children and Charles wants to push them to prove to the world that mutants can be good for humanity and I just see them as small children."
Sophie Turner As Jean
Sophie Turner says that she studied multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia in order to better prepare to portray both sides of Jean's personality once the Phoenix manifests itself.
"So many scenes I have to go from broken-down Jean — that’s when she's most subsceptible to Phoenix infiltrating her — to this confident, arrogant, judgmental character within milliseconds."
Who Is In The Coffin?
Here's that potentially spoiler-y pic we were talking about. There's always a chance that it's not a major character, or course, but that seems unlikely given what we already know about the plot.
Who might our heroes be mourning here? Well, pictured are Charles (James McAvoy), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp), so that does narrow it down some!
A BTS Look At Simon Kinberg And Michael Fassbender
Here we have a behind-the-scenes snap featuring director Simon Kinberg and star Michael Fassbender (Magneto).
This will mark Kinberg's first time behind the camera, and he says it was Jennifer Lawrence that ultimately convinced him to give it a go! "I give her credit or blame depending on how it goes," he jokes.
The Phoenix Rises
And finally we have another look at Sophie Turner's Jean Grey in Phoenix Form. The cover reveal seemed to be met with a bit of a mixed response, but what do you guys make of this new image?
