Darren Aronofsky No Longer Directing The Wolverine!

Well, it looks like that Darren Aronofsky will not direct The Wolverine after all for 20th Century Fox. Check out the statement from both director and the studio!

This is something that most of us didn't want to see. But according to this new report, Darren Aronofsky will not direct The Wolverine:

Stated Aronofsky: "As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again."

Stated Twentieth Century Fox: "While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine’, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine’. We will regroup and move forward aggressively."

Also, THR reports that studio is moving forward with the upcoming sequel and trying to find a new director:

Fox and Hugh Jackman - who is set to return in the title role - said they remain fully committed to making Wolverine and will move aggressively to find a new director. Fox hadn’t yet greenlit the sequel. A significant portion of the movie will be shot overseas (there had been plans to shoot in Japan).

So, what do you think about all this? Honestly, I am shocked with this report, because Aronofsky would be perfect for this. Share your thoughts below.

how's this fox fault aronofsky clearly states he's backing out because he's going get home sick, I hate fox as much as any one else, its not like they parted ways because of the big " creative differences".

WOW what a dissapointment! Not saying Darren isn't the only creative uber talented director out their but in the world of comic book movies Darren was one of the few really great directors taking a major character on like wolverine. So I will reserve judgment until they announce who will be taking the job now since I dont think it will be Slade since he has seemingly locked up Dare Devil.

Bah, you beat me to the punch Wolvie! I'm trying to take Aronofsky at his word, but with Fox's history, I'm thinking there were more creative differences that was the motive for his departure.

YES! This is the best news I've heard all week. Darren Aronofsky is one of the most talented directors working today – he would have made a fantastic Wolverine film, but I'm bloody sick of that mediocre franchise already. I'm much more excited about what Aronofsky will do next.

do your research before you post.
he is currently in a custody battle with his ex, actress Rachel Weisz. At the moment they have joint custody over the kid which would obv make it very hard for him to see the kid or take him/her to japan.
