Famke Janssen Tells Fans To "Stay Tuned" About A Possible Return As 'Jean Grey'

Will we see Famke Janssen's 'Jean Grey' in X-Men: Days of Future Past? Well, the actress refuses to reveal anything too concrete, but does tell fans that "one never knows" when it comes to a possible return as the character who met her maker at the hands of Wolverine back in The Last Stand.

Since it was revealed that Matthew Vaughn's sequel to X-Men: First Class would be titled Days of Future Past, speculation has been running rampant that time travel will factor into the film (thereby meaning the return of some, or all, of the cast members from the original trilogy). Patrick Stewart has repeatedly hinted at a possible return as Professor Xavier, despite being killed off in Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand. However, an after-credits scene DID show him waking up in the body of a coma patient. Well, now it's Famke Janssen who seems to be dropping subtle hints about making a return as Jean Grey!

"One never knows," she said coyly in a recent interview with MTV News. "Jean Grey, the Phoenix...she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows." However, the actress made it clear that she's currently "in no position to say anything" too definitive, finishing up by admitting that she actually has no idea (or so she says) and that fans should "Stay tuned." Would you guys like to see her back? Sound off with your thoughts and theories in the usual place!

Ah crap. Why must they tie-in to that series so much? I'd give up Picard appearing again, as much as I liked him as Prof. X, if it meant as much distance as possible from the original series.

FOX isn't going to reboot X-Men, they even got a New Mutants movie in development. The Wolverine and X:DOFP would have to get bad reviews and not make much money in order for FOX to think about a reboot.

How come the only actors we've heard about so far are the ones whose charcters have died at the end of the trilogy? Is this going to rectify the continuity or just leave more loose ends dangling from The Last Stand? Xavier may not be dead but he's in a different body. Jean is definitely dead. How about Ellen Page as Kitty (essential for an homage to the classic Days of Future Past cover)? Or some actors from the other Fox/Marvel films like Jennifer Garner (Logan and Elektra were together for most of the '90s, remember) or from the FF? And as for new characters, what about Franklin Richards?! That would be so awesome. He's already been confirmed to be a part of the X-Men movie universe, as his name was on the mutant files on a Weapon X computer in X2. They could even drop the Emma Frost actress from the Generation X movie in there. She'd be about the right age going by the X-Men Origins: Wolverine timeline.

GUNSMITH@ You really think Disney's X-Men would be as mature or sophisticated as Fox's? Can you see Disney Wolverine saying "Go [frick] Yourself" or using his claws on anything that isn't alien?

If Fox do have plans to bring in a few characters from the X-Men trilogy back, than yes! Famke Janssen should reprise her role as Jean Grey in X-Men:Days of Future Past.

@DukeAcureds: CA:TFA had a Hydra agent get blended into a bloody mist by a propeller and The Avengers had Coulson getting stabbed through the back. I'm not sure where this perception that everything is so clean in the MCU came from, but it is clearly incorrect.

@DukeAcureds The filmmakers of X:FC kept saying that it is prequel.

Wait! I just figured it out! The writers were talking about Cable in the sequel, if they got the chance, right?> Remember, when the first one had just come out? Well Jean Grey would have to be in it if Cable was in it. Maybe it's like the comics in which, before her death in X2, her and Scott have a child and bring it up in the future as Askani's and he comes back to the past, post-X-Men: The Last Stand and that gets all Days of Future Past with Mutant Concentration Camps and Sentinels and Wolvie and Shadowcat (Ellen Page) and maybe even Bishop and Elektra and Franklin Richards and such, then they go back to before First Class and the timeline is forever changed.

malschla@ That's a good point.
Marvel87@ Yeah, they did. But I think they've decided it's now a reboot, since all the fans kept calling them on the innumerable continuity errors. So now they're all like, damn, I guess it is a reboot. But if it gives us this awesome Days of Future Past prospect, then I'm glad they [frick]ed up on things like Emma Frosts age, in the first place.

@PureLionHeart - Um First Class is apart of the original trilogy. It was a prequel, end of story, always will be in the same universe until they take 5 and reboot it altogether

I'd bang her to pieces

And no I dont want first class contected to the first three films, because time travel wont fix the continuity errors.

It's obvious the writers / producers didn't know what direction to take the xmen filmverse.
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 10/1/2012, 10:44 AM
SENTINELS!!!!
Apocalypse and Sinister would be good, too. They could get into a bit of AoA, with this.
Bark4Soul@ If it is, then how do you explain Xavier being bald and not crippled at the beginning of X-Men: The Last Stand, but being crippled and not bald at the end of X-Men: First Class? And I suppose he just flat out lied when he said that he met Erik when he was 17 and that they had both built Cerebro as oppose to Beast building it. As of 1945, the timeline was exactly the same, but everything after that is differen in both universes, therefore a time travel concept would rectify this. Then, Bob's you're uncles, Famke's your aunt and you've got a workable franchise wherin they could even take liberties with when people were born, explaining Emma Frost's age discrepency and allowing them to introduce Scott, Jean, Bobby and Warren to a team that is already made up of three members of the original 616 team, then they could just put Polaris and Mimic in there and viola, a full line-up of the original X-Men. The first five, alone would please fans to no end.

@DukeAcureds they did explain in the commentaries that the body with Moira is actually Xavier's twin brother, so identical..
