Gambit was supposed to be released way back in 2016 but after losing multiple directors and hitting roadblock after roadblock, it finally appears as if the Marvel Comics adaptation from Fox is finally beginning to come together. According to a new report, the studio has set a new production start date for June 19th in New Orleans, Louisiana (which is, of course, Remy LeBeau's hometown in the comics).
It's also said that the X-Men spinoff will film at Big Easy Studios, the same place Logan was shot. Now that a new start date has been set, you have to believe that Fox has found a director for the project.
When we'll learn that filmmaker's identity remains to be seen but a cast still needs to be put together before June so they're going to have their work cut out for them. With the Disney/Fox deal still set to be finalised next year, it's also possible that Disney will pull the plug on the movie if it isn't finished by the time it goes through so the fate of Gambit is now very much up in the air for the time being!
