Halle Berry All But Cut From X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?
According to an onset source for the New York Daily News, Halle Berry's (Ororo Munroe/Storm) X-Men: Days of Future Past screen time has been whittled down to one scene.
Disappointment, it is something that we've all experienced at some time from 20th Century Fox with their handling of the X-Men franchise. We have grown accustomed to getting our hopes up and then having them dashed. Earlier this year, we felt that familiar displeasure as word came down that True Blood actress Anna Paquin (Rogue) was cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past. Yes, there's still a small chance of Paquin being in the film because of some last minute reshoots, but we can't bank on that. And now, New York Daily News reports that Halle Berry's ("Catwoman") screen time has been reduced to merely one scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Meanwhile, on the work front, a source who was on the set of “X Men: Days of Future Past,” tells us Berry, who plays Storm, was cut out of every scene but one in post-production. - New York Daily News
When X-Men: Days of Future Past was announced, we learned of Bryan Singer's ambitious plans to include actors from his original X-Men timeline and actors from the X-Men: First Class timeline. This info had fans eagerly anticipating Halle Berry's return to the role of Storm. She hadn't played the white-haired mutant that can control the weather since Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand. Producers did bring her back into the fold, but the film's shooting schedule conflicted with the child that was growing inside her womb. She was pregnant with her second child from fiance Olivier Martinez. By the time cameras started to roll Berry already had a prominent bump. In several interviews, she mentioned that her pregnancy did limit her involvement, she stated, "Storm probably won't be as badass as she was going to be because we won't be able to do any fighting or flying or things like that." A small role, yes, but she still believed her part was integral. Oscar-winning actress said, "There's something very revealing and shocking about Storm in this movie that I thought was needed." If New York Daily News is right, and Halle Berry's part has been diminished to just one scene, it seems safe to assume we'll never know what Storm's "shocking" revelation was.
Update: A source for SHH disagrees: "Good gossip that is sure to bring some traffic to your site, except that it isn't true. SHH has spoken to a very trusty source of the site, who says there is no truth to what the NY Daily News is claiming." Which source is right? Don't know. We'll find out this May.
Thanks to Wyleejay for the heads up.
