Hugh Jackman Optimistic That An X-MEN/AVENGERS Crossover Will Happen Someday

A year ago, Spider-Man joining the MCU seemed like a pipe dream, but today that dream has become a reality. Could the X-Men be next? Even though Fox has an impressive slate of X-Men films coming up, Hugh Jackman remains optimistic about the idea. Come check it out!

Even though Hugh Jackman's been hard at work promoting his upcoming release Chappie, he hasn't quite been able to escape X-Men/Spider-Man/Avengers-related questions. Yesterday, we heard his opinion about possibly cameoing in the Deadpool film, and today we have a brief tidbit about whether or not he thinks the X-Men will ever crossover with The Avengers.

The idea of a crossover may be great, but with Fox currently on a hot streak with their X-Men films and with their more than impressive upcoming slate, the likelihood of a crossover happening are unlikely at best, but then again we said the same thing about Spider-Man this time last year. However, despite all of this, Jackman remains optimistic: “Two years ago I’d have said you’d be a real optimist to think it’d ever happen, but weirdly now I just think it maybe could. I think there is the possibility that it will happen.” He also goes on to say that the one Avengers character he'd like to see in a Wolverine film would be Iron Man as long as Robert Downey Jr. is playing the part.

Check him out in the video clip below:

Anything is possible, especially with Spidey back at Marvel. But I wouldn't count on it any time soon.

I think Fox is riding high after Singer came back for DOFP and Apocalypse. But what happens when Singer leaves? What if they start churning out Wolverine:Origins-level crap again? I can definitely see FOX making a deal in that scenario.

It's not about Fox needing the boost, it's about caring about the public and the fans. We are the people that put money in their already deep pockets..make it happen dammit!! Everyone would benefit...Fox, Marvel, and Disney. If an Avengers/X-Men movie came out, don't you think the movie would make more money than any of the movies Fox has ever come out with?? Of course it would! They're so stupid, just do it already lol.

I don't think FOX is that smart. They seem like a bunch of greedy little executives who have zero comprehension of the comic book realm. Would Jackman finally wear a Wolverine costume? He would look weird in his black suit or wifebeater next to Thor or Ironman.

Its a fantastic idea, but I ain't optimistic. The only answer is to revert the X Men rights back to Marvel. Is there a time limit on that license?? Or is it strictly based on if Fox keeps making movies?

would love to see a joint collaboration

side note* 1 good movie is a "hot streak"?
Usually "consecutive" is involved in "hot streak"...there's a big GAP between X2 and Da of Future Past. But I digress..

LMFAO… Fox doesn't play well with others and their own properties… and if they do it I doubt Hugh Will still be playing Wolverine by then… Its fun to dream… But it would be awesome to see Wolverine vs Hulk!

@McGee your dog was on TV…

Maybe when he's Old Man enough. But not any time soon.

Fox still thinks they can build their own shared universe on Singer's shaky foundation on the scale of a Marvel or DC, but it's just not going to happen. They need at least one movie that isn't goddamn humans vs. mutants / mutant oppression / mutant experimentation. It's all very dour, played out, and boring. Even the social relevance of connecting it to the gay rights movement has started to fade in the majority of the first world.

They have the [frick]ing Shi'ar, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Phoenix, Starjammers, and probably the majority of the Exiles. Go a little nuts, Fox.

I adore his spirit for hoping that it'll get made. We all know it will happen but not so soon and it won't be him playing wolverine.

Not that I mind, really. Marvel being cut off from the X-Men has actually streamlined their universe quite a bit. They haven't had to deal with that weird dichotomy that people love costumed heroes, but hate mutants (who are for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from other superhumans) for some reason.

X-Men is a big enough universe that it could rival the other two studios, but the fault is in Fox's ambition, not in the source material.
