Hugh Jackman Says DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Will Be The X-Men's THE AVENGERS

Hugh Jackman is clearly confident about Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past as he believes that the movie, "will be, for X-Men, like The Avengers." The actor also shares his thoughts on returning to the role of Logan so soon after The Wolverine.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Hugh Jackman has once again expressed his excitement about starring in X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, he clearly has high hopes for the movie which has recently been surrounded in a little controversy as a result of 20th Century Fox's decision to introduce Quicksilver ahead of Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers. Talking of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, it was the first instalment of that Marvel Studios franchise which Jackman compared the "inbetweequel" to. "I thought, I wonder if they'll want me to cameo again?" he said of first hearing about the movie. However, after being sent an 8-page synopsis of the story, he was extremely impressed with both the story and his role in it. "I was like, 'Okay, this is a slam-dunk idea. This, actually, is phenomenal. I think this will be, for X-Men, like The Avengers.' And I think it is..." As for how he feels about reprising the role of Wolverine so soon after wrapping up work on latest solo outing, he added: "I was a little frustrated because I was nearing the end of a 12-to-18 month physical odyssey and getting ready to have Christmas off - and lasagnes. And I'm, unfortunately, not as young as I was, so I have to start earlier and go for longer. So I was like, Okay, we gotta keep going.' But I'm really excited about it, and I never thought in a million years I would play one character in seven movies." Now that's dedication!

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Why would this X-Men be like the Avengers? Shouldn't it be like, I don't know, an X-Men movie instead?

Anything's possible, I guess. I don't trust Singer to bring the fun and deadpan humor like Whedon does though, but I gotcha, Hugh.

Singer will [frick] it up.

Why can't we get Zack Snyder or Joss Whedon to direct it? Why can't Zack Snyder or Joss Whedon direct every comic book movie?

X-Men will suck as long as Fox has the rights it's that simple.

Hugh Jackman, please hang up the claws.

I love Hugh, but seeing him constantly overshadow the rest of the X-Men is really annoying.

Have him cameo or have a minor role in DOFP and then thats it!

I love Hugh Jackman's enthusiasm for the Wolverine character. It is refreshing to see that he realized this was the role that brought him into the mainstream and instead of "becoming bored" or "too good" to play the role over time, he approaches it with the same good will and energy each time out. Because he is a strong actor and has this appreciation, I will always support him in the roles and not knock him.

The actual movie on the other hand. . .

you stop that Levi....I like Snyder and Whedon just where they are respectively. I don't know what the hell Bryan Singer did to convince them to let him behind another camera again.

Singer can't do it! Plus X-men can't be Avengers they have too many character and the time stream is too convoluted plus there is no peeking order in the X Men movies!

Hugh's a great actor. But I think it's time to hang up the claws. He'll go on to win two Oscars and do some great films I'm sure. But it's time that the entire X series is rebotted from the start once DoFP does Star Trek: Into the Darkness type numbers.

EXACTLY. Most of these guys turn a bit douchey. Jackman seems very blue collar and humble.

I wish the films were a better adaptation of the X-Men so he could get all the adulation he deserves

he's probably talking about the action scope, not about tone or the plot.

Avengers was the first epic team movie with great team action. And Days of future past more than likely will be the second one.

I would love to see a solo movie about archangel and the way he turns out like during the Inferno saga.

I wonder why we haven't herad about an X-Force movie idea yet??? Maybe to R-rated???

While I am at it a Cable and Hope movie would be awesome, I really love that story even if time travel are always so confusing in movies :)

@Batmaniac well the Marvel Banner didn't appear until the first Spider-Man movie. They knew Blade was a Marvel character when it said "Based on the Marvel characters..." In the opening. Plus, people really know now that he is a Marvel character.
