With production expected to begin soon on FOX's prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy,
X-Men: First Class, casting for the film is on the ball, with
"Beast" &
"Banshee" announced earlier today.
And now according to Entertainment Weekly, Lucas Till is in negotiations to play the role of Alexander “Alex” Summers aka Havok in the Matthew Vaughn-directed "First Class". Born in Texas, 19 year old Lucas Till is apparently known from his starring role in television parts, including his roles on House, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and grammy winner, Taylor Swift's first music video.
Info on the "Havok" character via Marvel,
"Havok is a mutant with the superhuman ability to absorb ambient cosmic energy into the cells of his body, transform it in an unknown manner, and release it as waves of energy that heat the air in their path enough to turn it into plasma, which is a super-heated state of matter consisting of charged subatomic particles. These waves will emanate from his body in all directions unless he purposefully tries to channel them in a single direction, usually along the length of his arms. Havok is himself immune to the intense heat he creates, as well as the power blasts generated by his brother Cyclops."
Speaking of Cyclops, EW confirms that
Kick-Ass &
Twilight stars, Aaron Johnson & Taylor Lautner are NOT appearing in "First Class". And
NOTE that EW also says to keep in mind that Havok, Beast, and Banshee castings may not be the actual characters in the movie. Instead, this could be part of a misdirection campaign to keep some surprises from X-Men fans.
If it turns out to be true, Till joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee). And in a story that focuses on Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as young men, when discovering their powers for the first time, filming begins this summer in London, hitting theaters June 3rd next year.
