Lucas Till Joining X-Men: First Class as Havok?

Lucas Till Joining X-Men: First Class as Havok?

Possibly the latest addition to the X-Men: First Class roster, according to EW is the mutant "Havok" with Lucas Till portraying him. Check it Out!

With production expected to begin soon on FOX's prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy, X-Men: First Class, casting for the film is on the ball, with "Beast" & "Banshee" announced earlier today.

And now according to Entertainment Weekly, Lucas Till is in negotiations to play the role of Alexander “Alex” Summers aka Havok in the Matthew Vaughn-directed "First Class". Born in Texas, 19 year old Lucas Till is apparently known from his starring role in television parts, including his roles on House, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and grammy winner, Taylor Swift's first music video.

Info on the "Havok" character via Marvel, "Havok is a mutant with the superhuman ability to absorb ambient cosmic energy into the cells of his body, transform it in an unknown manner, and release it as waves of energy that heat the air in their path enough to turn it into plasma, which is a super-heated state of matter consisting of charged subatomic particles. These waves will emanate from his body in all directions unless he purposefully tries to channel them in a single direction, usually along the length of his arms. Havok is himself immune to the intense heat he creates, as well as the power blasts generated by his brother Cyclops."

Speaking of Cyclops, EW confirms that Kick-Ass & Twilight stars, Aaron Johnson & Taylor Lautner are NOT appearing in "First Class". And NOTE that EW also says to keep in mind that Havok, Beast, and Banshee castings may not be the actual characters in the movie. Instead, this could be part of a misdirection campaign to keep some surprises from X-Men fans.

If it turns out to be true, Till joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee). And in a story that focuses on Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as young men, when discovering their powers for the first time, filming begins this summer in London, hitting theaters June 3rd next year.

If he's in talks with joining the cast i'd see him more as Angel rather than Havok. Also why would they put Havok in the movie, i'd wish they'd stick to the original 5 and not cram as many characters into this re-boot.

I don't think Havok has any place in this movie, but I have to admit it would be badass to see his powers on the big screen.

well... it would give Cyclops some more dynamic than we're used to seeing. I certainly don't want a douchey Cyclops in this movie.

@CaptainAmerica- yeah...that's an interesting part of the article. We may very well see the original five in this film...which would mean...REBOOT!

@ecks, i wouldnt get my hopes up. Fox is still planning on releasing a Deadpool film and a sequel to Wolverine so i doubt they are gonna reboot anything.

Good find @ DCMF, but this is getting goofy. Soon we'll have casting ready for every other character in the X-universe. Singer's checking this Wikipedia page and casting them all:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_X-Men_members

Put them all in black leather: it doesn't matter if you can't tell them apart.

oh please! If this is true, along with the rest of the characters being cast, then this will suck-ass as much as Kick-Ass did.

I like that the "other" Summers brother is finally getting some love (if this in fact turns out to be true).

But I have to agree with an earlier poster who said that this is looking more and more like a reboot. The series needs it so I hope it's true.

Great find again DCMF, but Havok!? What the hell are Fox thinking? It's great to see new mutants brought to the big screen but this is yet another character who has no place in the "First Class" of mutants! Damn you Fox!!!
SydneySavage
SydneySavage - 7/8/2010, 6:34 PM
bummer, I thought Kevin Pennington would have made a great Havok. I guess he's too old to be the younger brother of Cyclops.

But anybody else hope Polaris is in this?! I sure do! :)

Wasn't Multiple-Man rumored too? Are we gonna have the X-Factor gang in the movie? Who's playing strong guy?

Havoc would be cool...if it wasn't an x-men movie. Hope Iceman is in it.
juggy4711
juggy4711 - 7/8/2010, 7:09 PM
I have a bad feeling about this....

Introducing Havok either means the team roster is getting more convoluted than I thought it would, or maybe its gonna set up Mr. Sinister and the whole Summers thing.
CallMeSnake
CallMeSnake - 7/8/2010, 7:10 PM
@sydney...I really hope polaris is in it...wolfsbane and strong guy too.

then there could be a x-men/x-factor brawl.

What if X-Factor is in this and is under the influence of Magneto or Sinister? :(

Hell, yeah! I like this better and better! Can't get over how genius Fox is! I'm just sad that the Lautner rumor was debunked. I was so hyped about it yesterday!

But, still, Fox is so great that soon the film will look like this:

...or even this (counting the villains, of course):

...that you can't tell who's who anymore, and every one of them will get like a ninety second screen time!

Excellent!
Go, Spider-Boot, go!
Go, Sony, go!
