Lucas Till Talks About Returning As 'Havok' In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The actor talks about (barely) working with Bryan Singer on X-Men: Days of Future Past and goes on to share his thoughts on his comic book research, whether 'Havok' is in fact fighting in the Vietnam War in this movie, the chances of Cyclops making an appearances, and much more.

On Working With Director Bryan Singer:

I was in and out. We did a lot of second unit stuff. So I didn’t get to spend that much time with Bryan. But I loved working with him because he let me reinvent the way I do my power. It’s what I wanted to do on the last movie but because there are so many things working against you, you kind of just have to do what they provide for you with the pre-visualization because that is a lot more money than my paycheck. So I had to kind of corporate with what they had already done. But I wanted to do it differently and they let me on this one. Which is cool because I’m actually an X-Men fan. So getting to bring something into the movie and feeling like I was actually part of making this movie is one of the coolest feelings that I’ve ever had.

On How Much Research He Did For X-Men: Days Of Future Past:

On First Class there was a guy who’s job it was just to give us comics. So he gave me a thousand pages just of Havok. That is where I did most of my research. Ever since then I still read the comics but I don’t read as many as I should. I’m negligent with keeping up with comics lately because I’ve been all over the place. But now that I have some time I’m going to sit down and go through Havok’s books and some of my other favorite characters.

On Whether He Got To Work With Any Of The "Future" Actors:

I can’t say anything. I probably could answer but I won’t.

On How He Views The Character Of 'Havok' In This Movie:

Ambiguity is his thing. The ambiguity comes from a place of being a liability. He can’t control his power. He famously can’t control his power for a lot of his arc. That’s the reason he is never on the good side, because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but he’s never really been a bad guy. Or he has been but it was sort of Machiavellian, it was a ploy to get on the bad side and undermine them. I think Havok always has a good heart. But he’s definitely not playing for any team necessarily in this one.

On Whether 'Havok' Is Fighting In The Vietnam War As Part Of The US Army:

If you can imagine what time our story takes place in, what year, and what war was going on around that time … so I’ll let your imagination run wild.

On Whether This Movie Will Introduce Cyclops:

You’ll have to watch and find out my friend.

The fact that some, (not all) like this faithless adaption of havok and credit Vaughn as a visionary shows that some fans have no conviction!

Havok has always been one of my favorite X-men and I was glad to see him in First Class. I didn't like how they screwed over the continuity of the Summers bros and it seems that Alex is now Scott's father or something and I didn't like how they made his blasts into hula hoops of energy and then blast out of his chest. I hope in DOFP they give him a suit that focus his energy through his hands.

It's a shame Havok did more in one film than Cyclops in 3. I still enjoyed his performance though. Glad he's returning, I wish Banshee could. Very excited for DOFP.

i have no idea why x-men first class gets so much praise,a couple of good performances from fassbender & mcavoy, great score & again a couple of good action scenes but that's about it.

i suppose a good movie just a shit x-men movie.

@Darkking

Unfortunately I just realized that is how they are probably going to retcon Alex to be the older brother with more then likely present day Scott being killed in the new X-men event and having past Scott stay technically making him the younger brother to Alex. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did this.

I have no idea why the Avengers gets so much praise. A couple of good lines and action sequences. The cast all do good when they aren't being purposely overshadowed by RDJ.

I suppose it's a fun blockbuster but a Shit Avengers movie.

I'm thinking they'll have a cameo from Cyclops (and maybe Jean) at the end of the film if they come back and have fixed/changed the future!

I'm interested in seeing how they play out the relationship of Cyclops and Havoc. Of course we all know that they're brothers but perhaps Scott is introduced at the end of the film as being a new member to the team which may leave room for more films for developing how Cyclops becomes the leader we all know him as. Perhaps a young Jean Grey will be introduced at the end as well and we can all possibly see that scene from X-Men: The Last Stand when Magneto and Professor X visit the Grey's house. Or perhaps it may just be Professor X depending on how Professor X and Magneto's relationship play out in this film.

I'm assuming that the next film will take place in the 80's since each film skips about 10 years. Or maybeeeee they may take the route of "All
new X-Men and have the past young X-Men travel to the present day we all live in? But then again they would need storm too! lol I'd like to see Professor X duke it out with Shadow King!

brazilianbatman
brazilianbatman - 8/1/2013, 6:15 PM
ihuman@ I don't think so, too complicated.

xmen orgins was probably erased by singer becaue origins did try to erase what singer had done with the two movies. do you remember how different wolverine claws experiment scenes were very different in wolverine origins and xmen 2?

brazilianbatman
brazilianbatman - 8/1/2013, 6:18 PM
weaponx93@ more likely James Mardsen. I don't see any actor, writer, plot connection or whatever from wolverine origins coming back except for Hugh Jackman and maybe Ryan Reynolds.

Gambit will probably be rebooted, Emma Frost is the Emma Frost from First Class and General Striker probably only existed in XMEN 2.
