The troubled actor was rumored to have been offered the role of Logan back in 1997, but short of that we've never heard too much more about it. Now, what is apparently some official concept art from Miles Teves has been unearthed, which you can see after the jump.
There were several actors that were said to be up for the role of Wolverine before Hugh Jackman brought the iconic Marvel mutant to life in Bryan Singer's X-Men, and one of them was Mel Gibson. How close he actually came to playing the part is unknown, but providing the above concept sketch from artist Miles Teves (Total Recall, RoboCop, The Chronicles of Riddick, Legend) is legit, it may well have been closer than we thought.
