Michael Fassbender On Playing Magneto In X-Men: First Class!

Talking to Hero Complex, Michael Fassbender shared some more info about Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto in Matthew Vaughn-directed film X-Men: First Class, his approach for the character and more:

"These two brilliant minds coming together and their views aren’t that different on some key things. As you watch them you know that if their understanding, ability and intelligence could somehow come together it would be really special. But the split is what makes them even more interesting and tragic.

At one point I thought, should I study Ian McKellen as a young man, should I take that approach? Matthew wasn’t so keen on it and after discussing it we decided it might lead off away from the real priorities. Just returning to the comic books you find that Erik can — in terms of taking on a voice — Erik can be anything when we meet him. He speaks German, he goes to a concentration camp in Poland, ends up in Eastern Europe with Magda, has a child there and then sort of goes off to Israel. There’s so much there and I tried to approach it freshly from that source material and see what I could come up with independently. There is, of course, the hint of what Ian McKellen has done in the movies is there as well"

X-Men: First Class is set to hit theatres on June 3!

Is there such a thing as reverse marketing? The more I hear about this movie, the less I want to see it...

I get what McAvoy is saying, but he should shut up all the same.

I dunno...wasn't really X-pecting them to go for the whole "Bromance" angle. This troubles me...

yeah because I mean love can only mean sexual love and I mean for two guys to love each other is gay right? I mean I love my dad and therefore I must wanna sleep with him. Yeah you guys are right this is so uber gay! I mean two guys can't care about each other and what happens, thats just...ugh that queer and all that. See I thought you tight, closeted, emotionophobes were perhaps ignorant and wrong with no chance at lasting relationships with real humans but....DAMN YOU ARE RIGHT! What a gay film this is gonna be.

Everything Michael Fassbender says and does with this movie is pretty much spot on, but I haven't liked McAvoy in the slightest. He's been actively annoying me with the trailers, and his interviews are kind of weird.

And Matthew Vaughn's statements don't exactly inspire confidence, do they?

Yeah, it looks like those quotes were already posted, but Hero Complex posted it as new ones, only the Fassbender part is not old from what I could see.

I was meaning the quotes posted on this site.

wolvieCBM posted the other quotes from James and Matthew, but I think after some of the comments here, he decided to delete them.

All the gayness has me yearning for boobies. TEABAG, if it's not too much trouble, would you mind providing a few sets. Cheers.

what's with all the homophobia seriously? So what if it is a bromance story, besides most of you guys only see breasts online and then have sex with your hand. Sounds more gay than this. Fassbender for the win.

Its funny I never viewed Magneto as Jewish. But as a victim of the Nazis terror on other races. I felt he was more eastern european or slavic. I guess the Marvel staff needed to turn him Jewish because they felt the averge Joe wouldn't undertand that "others " were victims of Nazism as well.

I don't have anything against Fruits. They have good style. In fact, my fag friend Brett is designing the layout of my family's new bakery. He's super gay. He was wearing red leather loafers along with a pink sweater tied around his neck the last time I saw him. Stylin'!
