My theory on the Stinger of the Wolverine

SPOILERS FOR THE WOLVERINE AND THE LAST STAND BELOW

In the stinger of The Wolverine, Logan is through an airport with an ad for Trask Industries the creators of the Sentinels being played. Then Magneto (as we saw in X Men Last Stand the cure used on him may have been temporary) comes saying he wants Logan to join him to save mutantkind. Logan asks why should he trust him and then Professor Xavier comes rolling in back from the grave.

This is my theory on that.

In the end credits stinger for X Men the Stand it turns out when he died Professor Xavier transferred his mind to a man with no brain functions. As said by the director in the commentary the man is actually Xavier’s twin brother so when we saw him in the Wolverine we are not seeing Xavier’s body back to live but his twin brother who’s hosting Xavier’s minds.

That brings another question, why does Xavier still need a wheelchair then? My answer...........he doesn’t.

When he switched to his brother’s body I think he regained the use of legs but he is just using the wheelchair to show Logan that it’s really him and he plans to spring the fact that he can walk now to him later.

So yeah the Wolverine was not only a good film but it helps get us ready for the film based on one of the most classic and famous X Men storylines besides the Dark Phoenix Saga.

I am excited and the Sentinel designs look cool to me, and definitely different from Iron Man (I was scared that besides the head they would just look like recoloured Iron Man armours).

Also for the ones who are wondering why Trask will be different from his appearance in Last Stand: maybe they are different characters and are relatives...or maybe they just happen to have the same surname.

That is my theory.

He has a twin brother, and he's confining himself to a wheelchair just to say "hi" to Logan?

Hmmmmmm makes sense I guess. You know, obviously he has his telepathy, but that's one thing that bugs me.

The BODY is what gives mutants their powers, not the mind. So if he transfers his mind to say, a twin brother with no mutations, he should just be stuck in there, powerless.

@Tainted87
Good point. Maybe because it's a mind based power?

@Leebo4
Nice write up. I like the idea he doesn't need the wheelchair.

It doesn't make sense since I'd his brother wasn't a mutant he wouldn't be able to use his powers post transfer

@Tainted87 Actually in comics Xavier has done that trick multiple times. It has been made clear that he can transfer his powers as well because they are mind based. Then again, because the new body is his identical twin brother, it wouldn't be so far-fetched to assume that because they genetically already so similiar, the brother would have the same X-gene as well.

odin- was it officially said that was his twin brother, cos he could just be usuing the body and useing his powers so that everyone seems him as he used to look before he got that nw body.

Oh his TWIN BROTHER! That makes TOTAL [frick]ING SENSE! That is a huge cop out! Totally retarded. Just let him be in the body of Mystique, explaining why older Mystique isn't in Days of Future Past but the young one is. This would explain why he appears as himself due to Mystique's shape shifting abilities

charles has a sister cassandra nova & a step brother cain marko the juggernaunt, what is this twin brother bullshit?

i think i would prefer it more if they said charles is from an alternate timeline where the phoenix hadn't disintegrated him.

Or,or, don't take me at face-value for this, but maybe who you see is actually Emma Frost masquerading as Dr. Xavier. Ever thought of that? Your theory is sound however, and is just as good as the next one.

To those who are wondering yes Charles has a twin brother
See the end credits scene for last stand and that man who's Charles voice comes from
That's him as said in the commentary

@Tainted. If that was true, how would you explain Shadowking? He switches bodies.

The whole twin brother thing was officially announced back in 2006 with Last Stand. The guy's name is P. Xavier (Patrick?), it has been said that he is brain dead because when he and Charles were still in their mothers womb, Charles powers had their first brief activations; this accidentally caused other child's early brain functions to shut down.

@Praetorian No need to get so upset about something that has been in public knowledge for years, even if you have been too lazy look it up. IMO, that Mystique theorie of yours makes even less sense, Logan would've smelled her right away at the Wolverine's credit-scene.

Considering DOFP is all about time travel and alternate timelines, it makes more sense to just say that this Xavier is from an alternate timeline where his balls didnt get disintegrated.

they can use the explaination in the comics if they do keep him crippled(i hope not) his mind is so used to being crippled that it made the new body do the same. this was a story in Uncanny X-Men after he was put in a cloned body by the Shiar.

yeah it will be a twin brother. I think that maybe Trask will be from an alternate dimention like the first class universe which will be seperate then the original trilogy. in the DOFP comic story Kate pryde was sent to the past of a different timeline then her own in a teen version of herself. My guess unless im proven wrong is Logan mind will be brought to the past in a different timeline into a younger Logan which would explain a black trask in x3 as well as the differences between X1-3 and fc

I'm going way too deep here but, let's go with that "twin bro" thing here. Wouldn't Wolverine know that it wasn't the Prof just by his senses. In the first X-Men flim, on Liberty Island, Logan knew that Storm was Mystique before she even got close to him. With Chuck now directly in front of him, wouldn't he know it's not really him?

I remember seeing Charles smiling ear to ear before Jean ripped him apart in X3. Why was he smiling? Did he know that this encounter would end this way and made plans for that situation? After all he knows the Phoenix side of Jean well, he did put the walls up to block that side from comming out.

In a story involving the Brood, Xavier took his consciousness and put it into a clone body. Maybe he had this clone already in case something like this happened. To accept this we'll have to ignore the end of X3 but, it's not that hard for me to ignore over half of the events of that movie.

I don't agree with alternate timelines yet
Since as far as we know the sentinels haven't started taking over the world yet and so no one has time travelled yet
And I don't like the idea xavier is something from an alternate timeline, to me that just doesn't work r ight

This is a good theory, but I disagree with the Professor pretending he needs a wheelchair just to convince Wolverine he is the real deal. Sometime, back in the 70's or 80's, Professor X lost his body to a member of the Brood, but the Shi'ar cloned a new body for him. He kept his powers, and he was physically capable of walking, but he had several mental blocks that kept him from doing so. He eventually overcame these, but for the longest time, he was still confined to that wheelchair. Perhaps that is the direction the filmmakers are taking?

Heres my question if anyone can answer:

How is it at the end of The Wolverine he has bone claws but in the stinger they are adamantium again that Magneto can control...When and how did he get his adamantium back?

if its safe to say that his twin brother has been brain dead his whole life, would mean that he would have been bed ridden his entire life and he would suffer from muscle atrophy. That being said, he would have a lot of work to do just to get use of his legs again and depending on how long he has been in that body, he might not have gotten to the point where he could use his legs yet.

The adamantium was only cut from his claws

I had a theory on the man in the bed... What if it's James McAvoy's Xavier after the events of DoFP? Maybe Logan brings him into our timeline and Moira cares for him. Then Xavier transfers his consciousness into what WOULD be his own body.
