Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Many thanks to @_NerdyGeek_ for the heads up.

The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The film is set to hit theaters July 26th.

Do magazine editors not know the human anatomy of a human hand? Ya know, there's a Wolverine frog species that was just discovered. Can't they take pointers from biology rather than putting his claws out of place?

Hugh Jackman has not wore a shirt in a single promo image or poster from The Wolverine. He would make even Stephen Amell blush.

I don't know why, but I'm not as excited about this as I should be. But I'm going to see it anyway in case it will blow me away . I know it's probably just because Man of Steel and Pacific Rim look so awesome that I'm going crazy over THOSE films instead of this one. Totally fine with that. I can see that this could be a quality film - a "sleeper hit" of sorts for me.

Can't work myself up much over it, but I get the feeling I'm gonna love it.

@Giznad - The filmmakers moved his claws down a bit for this film. If the claw bones popped out from behind his wrist bones, then the claws should indeed be aligned with his wrist bones, ulna, and radius, not his knuckles.

position of claws depends on position of his hands when they pop out. FOX had decided from X1 that his hands must be str8 to pop claws out unlike how it was in the comics.

@AnonymousGuy(and Jollem), fair enough. It just looks like the claw is below the flesh between the fingers. It probably is just mild exaggeration to help elongate the claws a little for show. (looking at my own fist right now)...I guess it works. You guys have swayed my attitude.

@Dante, good points. the cinematic X-verse hasn't really been injected with magic/fantasy elements as of yet. they seem to stick closer to the sci-fi roots so the Muramasa would likely seem far fetched to the non-comic readers at this point in time.

i think a good way to fix this would be a New Mutants movie with Magik in it.

I'm in love with this Cinema Con trailer for "The Wolverine" I hope that the theme we hear in the background will be the theme for the film. Sounds great! :D
