While the majority of filming is complete, the first photos of Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova on the set of Fox's X-Men: Origins followup, The Wolverine, have surfaced online via HughJackMania. After Total Recall actress Jessica Biel had to turn down the role, Khodchenkova's inclusion in the Hugh Jackman-starrer had yet to be confirmed. But thanks to a heads up via StarkIndistries.Ru, the actress is now seen sporting her ‘Viper’ garb, surrounded by armed apparent villains, at an unknown filming location. Hit the images below to enlarge!

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, “The Wolverine” finds Logan (Hugh Jackman), the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed. Also starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee and Svetlana Khodchenkova, James Mangold directs a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback. And “The Wolverine” is scheduled for release on July 26, 2013.

I love the 'Bunnings Warehouse' umbrella in the shot as well as the Australian bucket cap. Clearly the Australian film crew like to be inconspicuous.

This is so the comic brought to life. They've even made Wolvie all Miller-esque.

Apparently, Fox has no problems dying people's hair. I wonder why they decided not to go green here? I feel it would add to the character even though it's a minor thing.

@Alex Lynch... right-o... My bad. Do you know if this is a character from the comics, because I am completely unaware of any other female Viper in Marvel. I know of one male in The Serpent Squad with Sin, but that's all I can recall.

I think they're merging her character with Yukio, from the Graphic Novel, who had similar hair. The Silver Samurai is in this, to and there is a lot of plot between Viper and the Silver Samurai. As Viper, Silver Samurai and Yukio all figure into the Wedding of Logan and Mariko (which would easily fit on to the end of the graphic novel), it would make a bit of sense to merge Yukio with Viper.

Equivocal@ Good point. Fox screwed Disney on this one, huh? And yet still no Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver from either studio.

@ Jollem, yeah but the majority of Marvel's movies don't suck. Much like Fox's.

Let's see here...All of the X-Men movies (that's right all of them were pretty bad the second was alright but wasn't an X-Men movie) minus First Class. Fantastic Four, Daredevil (both theatrical and director's cut blew)

So yeah, Fox's track record so far is pretty bad.

I understand a director wanting to put his creative touch on a comic book character. Even his decision to make things more grounded... But a costume in some form is needed. I'm not asking for spandex. I'm not asking for the exact same design of that in the comics, but a costume non-the-less.
Hey, X-men (1-3) plus First Class had costumes that were updates/ changes to their comic book counterpart. But they were costumes non-the-less.
Hasn't Marvel Studios proven it can work with Black Widow & Hawkeye? I shuuder to think what Silver Samurai will look like
