SDCC'11: Hugh Jackman Confirms The Villain For Wolverine 2

Jackman name dropped the villain for his next outing as Wolverine earlier at SDCC. You may already have a good idea who it is, but if ya don't, spoiler warning..

Hugh Jackman made a surprise appearance this morning at SDCC to promote his new movie Real Steel. But of course fans also wanted to know about the upcoming Wolverine movie which will now be directed by James Mangold after Darren Aronofsky had to leave the project. You can see a vid of Jackman discussing the movie, revealing it's shoot date etc but what isn't on there is the following..



“I’m filming Les Miserables in February, but before that I will be filming Wolverine 2 in October. Chris McQuarrie has written a fantastic script and it should turn out really good. I’ll fight the Silver Samurai in it so that should be exciting. Most of the filming will take place in Japan.”


Not much of a surprise considering the movie will be based on the Japan Saga, but just in case anyone thought some liberties might be taken(not exactly unheard of after all!) it's nice to have it confirmed. As for the title, is it still The Wolverine? I haven't head it called that since Aronofsky departed. Anyway, we'l keep on calling it Wolverine 2 for the time being.

Anyway who do you guys think would make a good Silver Samurai?

fox ain't gonna just settle for wolverine vs silver samurai,they'll do the lucky dip lottery of mutants.

just like x-men first class feature a bunch of mutants i couldn't give a shit about.

Yes I am surprised I was under the impression that Shingen Yashida was the villain, but then again I guess a Yakuza boss who is backed up by the Hand isn't as Flashy as the silver samurai not complaining, But Shingen beating the crap out of Wolverine was pretty awesome.

Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth should be in it for a cameo because he was the only good thing about the last film. I don't know much about Silver Samurai but he seems to fit.

awesome news! I love seeing all the new mutans and heroes and villians on the big screen,and Silver Samurai is a guy i've always been interested in.. Silver Samurai is certainly gonna give Wolvy all he can handle...

Ken Watanabe anyone? Easy choice, and makes alot of sense...

Dang, u people never seem to be happy.. I mean, what do u guys want from comic book movies? We finally got a nice stream of comic movies, and all u guys can do is complain... Remember when we never had these type movies? I love seeing these movies, even if just for seeing the charechters from the books live and moving around...

Thats fine, my friend.. This happens to be a comic book movie site though, so most on here really really enjoy comics and these comic movies.. I just remember a time when u could only dream of seeing a Wolverine vs Silver Samurai fight on the big screen..Actually, u coulden't even dream it..lol I like all movies, but i'm not gonna knock every comic movie, there all better then not having em, to me....
