X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES Creators Are Planning To Talk With Disney About Reviving The Iconic Cartoon

Is it possible that under the Disney umbrella we could see the return of the X-Men in animated form? According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the creative team behind the hit animated series from the '90s is planning to approach Disney about bringing back the beloved show.

"The one thing we'd like to do more than anything else is to continue where we left off," said longtime X-Men artist Larry Houston. The show, if it were to return, would likely keep the aesthetic of the original animated series.

X-Men: The Animated Series ran for five season (76 episodes) from 1992 to 1997. The critically and commercially successful show was one of the first major cartoons to feature mature, seralized storytelling. While many of the episodes were original stories, the series did adapt some of the iconic comic book story arcs as well, including the Dark Phoenix saga.

With the Disney+ streaming service launching later this year, it would likely serve as a perfect host for a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series. Of course, there's always Disney XD, which is already home to several Marvel animated series, including Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man.

Do you want to see the return of an X-Men animated series?

Disney has a hate boner against Marvel cartoons that stand for quality storytelling and respect to the source material.

So, we won't get a return of one of the greatest shows with one of the most badass intros ever.

@regularmovieguy - This is the best news I’ve heard in awhile. That series I feel is why a lot of people love x-men in the first place. Serious, adult, Easter eggs, great adaptations but with originality. Real accents. When I read the comics who doesn’t hear the voices from this show in your head? Where is the petition for this to happen because I will have tons of people I know sign it. DO IT.

@MutantEquality

Batman ‘89 got me into CBMs. X-Men: TAS and Batman: TAS [frick]ing solidified my love for the genre.

And that theme music...unreal.

@IronDean2099 - Also the second season of the '94 series was as amazing as the first season was famously wretched. A complete turn around in writing and animation, and I enjoyed it even as much as the 90s X-men series.

Guys what we need to revive is Endgame’s box office... it is so close yet so far from that #1 Avatar spot, gonsee it again!!!!!!! Take the #1, because Avatar is #2

@Subtlespammer24 - Avatar had a rerelease.

Marvel only needs to do the same thing promoting an extended version or Directors cut. I'd support it as long as it's not like the "Once upon a Deadpool" bs.
Subtlespammer24
Subtlespammer24 - 6/8/2019, 7:11 AM
@Starscream24 - yeah I’d support an extended cut or whatever. Endgame doesn’t have the problem once upon a Deadpool had, the whole neutering of the film to get a PG-13, so that’s a plus
Skestra
Skestra - 6/8/2019, 7:46 AM
@Subtlespammer24 @starscream24 - They wouldn't even have to do an extended or director's cut. All they need is to host another 'MCU Film Festival' like they did last year when they ran all the movies in IMAX. Just have "Endgame" bookend the event and done!
Subtlespammer24
Subtlespammer24 - 6/8/2019, 8:15 AM
@Skestra - ... whatever it takes
ThorArms

@ThorArms - stop it, it’s 65 million which this movie was making every 5 seconds at the beginning
ThorArms
ThorArms - 6/8/2019, 6:57 PM
@Subtlespammer24 - well yeah, it's no longer the beginning. It would need to make 40+ just from domestic
