As excitement for X-Men '97 continues to build, promo art and character posters for the X-Men: The Animated Series revival have surfaced (via Toonado.com).

In those, the entire team receives the spotlight, including new additions to the team like Bishop, Morph, Sunspot, and Magneto. They'll be signing up to fight the good fight in the wake of Professor X's disappearance, and as X-Men rosters go, we'd say this one is suitably comic-accurate (and formidable).

With threats like Mister Sinister and the Sentinels on the horizon, the X-Men will need all the power they can muster if they hope to make it out of this sequel series in one piece. Marvel Studios' larger plans for the property remain unclear, though returning to this world promises to be a blast.

Talking about plans for a second season, X-Men '97 Head Writer Beau DeMayo recently teased, "[Production] is going really, really well. We’re just in post-production on Season 1 and [right now] writing the finale for Season 2. I cannot be happier."

That certainly bodes well, though we'd appreciate some news on the first batch of episodes before getting too excited about the second. Marvel Studios must have a plan, though, and with mutants starting to find their way into the MCU, there's a chance the premiere is being saved for closer to Deadpool 3's 2024 release.

After all, with Hugh Jackman finally about to suit up in live-action, that feels like the perfect time to bring these costumed heroes back and remind moviegoers what they're supposed to look like!

If there's one thing we don't need in the MCU, it's more black leather.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but for now, you can check out this new X-Men '97 promo art in the Tweets below.

Is this ever coming out? I feel like I’ve been hearing about this for years.

What is with the promotional material for this thing
This and the original concept art just looked light slightly simplified versions of the 90’s designs (and storm got a mohawk)

Last stuff that came out looked like a different art style with new designs that looked like they were designed to be easily translated to live action for the mcu

@dracula - The last post was misinformation from Josh. They’re designs for merchandising and other purposes, but unrelated to the show.

The ones here though are accurate.

I’m going to get my nephew watching the old episodes so when this comes out he knows what’s going on. Gives me a good excuse to rewatch the show.

Lets be honest, the only reason they would wanna change the designs, even slightly, is cause of Rogue.

The X-Men have always been about diversity, inclusion and other subjects that reactionary simple jacks call "wOkE" nowadays. I can't wait for them to get triggered when they realize this

@KaptainKhaos - No they won't, we'll kick off if they gender or race swap any of the characters.

Big difference.

@marvel72 - give it time, the usual crowd of YouTubers will be thirsty for views and they'll come up with something

@KaptainKhaos - At least this is "X-Men 97" and not "X-People 97" or "The Mutants 97", which is the kind of stupid sh*t that triggers most (not necessarily reactionary) people these days.

And apparently they didn't make any unnecessary changes to classic characters like they'll most probably do when the X-Men are introduced in the MCU.

@KaptainKhaos - There isn't a single negative comment on this article about the diversity of the X-Men. Why? Because no one is triggered by diversity you ignoramus. Including Bishop and Storm on the roster isn't woke. Woke would be NOT including Bishop (for story purposes), but turning Professor X black to make up for it. Woke is making a Snow White movie, but changing the story to be more "empowering" for women, but ruining it for the majority of women who now feel LESS empowered, because only weak women fall in love and rely on a man for absolutely anything in their lives, apparently. Like I said, there aren't any complaints about diversity here, and yet you felt the need to pre-emptively attack an imagined enemy, while conflating a dislike for colour-washing and gender-bending with a dislike for diversity in general. I hate to throw around Americanisms, but if that isn't an example of the "woke agenda"...

@YouCray04 - "Including Bishop and Storm on the roster isn't woke."

It's very woke.

@ObserverIO -

“Woke” ≠ diversity.
KaptainKhaos
KaptainKhaos - 8/12/2023, 12:39 PM
@YouCray04 - the inclusion of Storm and Bishop aka Forced Diversity makes it HELLA WOKE, next they will make Storm stronger then the white male characters and it will be ULTRA INSTINCT WOKE

Never liked the show because of the absence of Nightcrawler and Colossus...just saying!

FlixMentallo21
FlixMentallo21 - 8/11/2023, 10:52 PM
@incredibleTalk - They did appear on the show, just not as members.

I always thought it was strange that certain members were portrayed this way. Aside from those two, the others to my knowledge were:
-Angel/Archangel
-Forge and most of X-Factor (especially Havok, Polaris, and Wolfsbane)
-The New Mutants/X-Force (who were relegated to voiceless cameos)
-Psylocke
-Sunfire (who even was portrayed as a Magneto follower at one point)
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 8/12/2023, 6:27 AM
@FlixMentallo21 - They retconned Angel as an OG member later on. He's in some of the flashbacks as part of the original team.
