Dazzler Cover Artist Bill Sienkiewicz Not "Noticed, Compensated, or Credited" For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Artwork
In a recent tweet sent out by Bill Sienkiewicz, he reveals that he was not noticed, compensated, or credited for his work on the cover art used in X-Men: Apocalypse
Bill Sienkiewicz reveals that he was not made aware, compensated, or credited for the creation of the Dazzler - Sounds of Light and Fury cover art, which was penciled by Sienkiewicz for Dazzler #29 in 1983. The artwork appeared in a deleted scene that was cut from X-Men: Apocalypse which saw Jean Grey, Scott Summers and Kurt Wagner take a trip to the mall. The cover art was fully revealed by Entertainment Weekly, and as reported by ComicBook.com, was given out to a select few at this years San Diego Comic-Con as a limited edition cover art at Fox's booth. Sienkiewicz states that he was only made aware of the photos official existence during the convention when fans came up and asked him to sign it. You can check out his tweets below:
Do you think that the artist should be credited, compensated, and made aware of the photos existence and the fact that it was being sold without him knowing? It appears as if Sienkiewicz was bamboozled into thinking that he would be getting any sort of credit or compensation for the use of the photo by Fox, he has even gone as far as saying that Fox will likely claim that they're the "creators" of the photo without giving him proper credit:
In addition to all this, Sienkiewicz confirms that Taylor Swift is not the female in the photo, but that she could've been. Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner hinted that that was the case when she sent out this cryptic tweet that read "#FBF that time Cyclops and I went shopping at the mall and found our favorite singer’s album (pre 1989, of course)". The tweet sent the internet ablaze because the female in the image looks so much like Taylor Swift, and save for the fact that Swift herself was seen with Turner and Singer added more fuel to the fire.
