Oscar Isaac On Playing The Titular Villian In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor reveals to MTV that he was always a big fan of the Apocalypse/Archangel story growing up, and is looking forward to playing the evil mutant in Bryan Singer's follow up to X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Check out the video interview after the jump.

Oscar Isaac had better be careful or else he'll find himself becoming a geek icon. Not content with playing a major role in next year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he will also star as the titular villain in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. MTV caught up with Isaac and got his first ever reaction to being cast in the role. He doesn't give much away, but says he's very excited and was a big fan of the comic arc which saw Apocalypse transform Angel into one of his Four Horsemen, Death. He also says he has no idea how he'll look as the character when the cameras role.

I was so exited for this movie until they described it as a disaster movie. Sure Apocalypse is gonna [frick] shit up but the last thing we need is another 2012

Heres hoping we get Angel as a horseman! Would be cool if they take four well loved x-men and had them as the horseman.

1- Wolverine- Everyone LOVES Hugh as Wolverine, this would be an amazing way to show him as a badass and to see how threatning he truly is (Plus he should have his adamantium by this time period)

2- Dark Beast- Turn another one of Xavier's greatest friends/allies! Would be another way to show why Xavier needs Eric's help

3- Gambit- Introduce us to Gambit as an enemy working under Apocalypse and then expand upon him and his backstory in his solo spin off

4- Angel- This is probably the biggest turn horseman of Apovalypse. a fan favorite and could have him join the X-Men at the end if he is freed from Apocalypses grip

Mr. Sinister will be Apocalypses right hand man

Leaving the X-Men with....

1- Professor Xavier
2- Magneto
3- Mystique? Unsure on where she will stand
4- Quicksilver
5- Cyclops
6- Jean Grey
7- Storm MOHAWK IS REQUIRED haha

Other possible characters rumored to return/appear

1- Toad (Returning)
2- Havok (Returning)
3- Juggernaut (Cut from DOFP)
4- Nightcrawler (Rumored alongside Gambit by Singer)
5- Sabretooth

This may/most likely will be the best CBM to date! Amazing casting with some amazing (Unexpected) casting decisions! From Kevin Bacon and Peter Dinklage to Evan Peters, James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender!

I'm skeptical that they'll do the character justice.

I also wonder how they're going to portray him... like Thanos? I doubt it.

Sabretooth is rumored to be in this? Will Liev Schreiber be playing him again? He was the only good part of X-men Origins: Wolverine in my opinion.

shame Ben Foster wont be given the chance to show Angels dark side, turning him into Archangel. Ben is awesome with dark characters, but oh well..... another good actor wasted by Fox

And to think...right now there's concept art being thrown around at Fox that could possibly showcase costumes but we won't find out about them until after they decide to go a disappointing direction with their attire. Please, prove me wrong Fox. lol Please! Then again, as I said before it all depends on if the team has already been assembled prior to or if the team IS being assembled within this film. *fingers crossed*
gambgel
gambgel - 12/3/2014, 8:19 AM
Beast created the costumes in First Class movie, so he can easily do the same this time around.

The third part of this trilogy without the actual X-Men team with epic costumes would be a huge fail. Fox and Singer wont miss that this time around.

I'm afraid Fox/Singer's Apocolypse will be something like this:

When it should be something like this:

I always envisioned something like a Shakesperean actor playing Apocalypse. That is because of the influence the early 1990s X-Men cartoon had on my adolescence.

But I'll give Isaacs a chance...

@RetroFit

Can he deliver a line with the gravitas of the voice actor from the 1990s TV show?

actionmoviefanatix - 12/3/2014, 9:02 AM
@BANEofexistence - Haven't we had enough of Magneto teaming up with the X-Men? We have more movies with the team-up than we do with them as adversaries. Let me make this as clear as day for everyone. The X-Men's most famous villain has teamed up with them more often than not.

We have spent more time establishing why Charles & Eric are friends than we have establishing why he is such a great threat to the world.

Not saying it'll be a grade A adaption of the book, but I'm sure that they will be taking some of the elements from it...

Oh please. Everyone stop getting your hopes up. They already showed what Apocalypse is gonna look like in the post-credit scene. Anyone remember that? It's gonna be a skinny Oscar Isaac with facepaint and a robe...

AND on top of that, Fox and Donner just use these movies as an opportunity to stuff in as many mutants with new/different powers as possible. Who the hell knows what mutants they'll use for the horsemen, but it won't be Angel...

@RetroFit

I agree, That costume needs to be used for crying out loud! Otherwise all xmen look like Matrix Characters.

@Greengo
I have a feeling the look of Apocalypse will resemble Mr Sinister more than Apocalypse and Powers will probably be different too. They just want to use the Villains name for hype and make him into whatever fits the script.

I would highly suggest watching this video. It showcases the origins of Apocalypse before and after his encounter with Alien technology.

AND on top of that, Fox and Donner just use these movies as an opportunity to stuff in as many mutants with new/different powers as possible. Who the hell knows what mutants they'll use for the horsemen,

I'd be a fool to disagree here. I've watched the Bonus Features from DofP and I have to say I was terribly upset when they expressed how they threw in mutants in the future who just had cool powers instead of their characteristics that would've proved as being relevant towards their stance in the future. However, I have heard that Fox is giving Singer, Kinberg and company more freedom in regards towards developing the characters for X-Men: Apocalypse. So who knows just how much they'll get done right and wrong.

I'm just glad that they have at least 3 writers involved in the project this go around.
