Robert Liefeld Wants Jon Hamm To Play Cable

If Deadpool performs well at the box office, could Cable turn up in the sequel? Could the character turn up in X-Men: Apocalypse? If any of these prove true, co-creator Robert Liefeld wants Mad Men's Jon Hamm to play him. Could you see Don Draper as the futuristic commando?

The production and creative teams working on Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse are already fielding questions about Cable even though neither film has been released in theaters. While they won't confirm if the time-traveling mutant appears in X-Men: Apocalypse or is in line to join Deadpool in sequel, co-creator Robert liefeld took to twitter during the Golden Globe Awards to reveal his personal pick to play Nathan Summer.

Created in 1990's The New Mutants #86, Cable has been a member of The New Mutants, X-Force, X-Men and Avengers. Cable is actually the son of fellow X-Men, Cyclops and Jean Grey. A mutant, Cable possesses awesome telepathic and telekinetic abilities abilities that are hamstrung by his constant need to subdue the techno-organic infection always present on his left arm. The character has been featured in several Marvel video games and received a guest arc on the animated 90's X-Men series. The character has yet to make a live-action appearance in the X-Men films.

Alex Ross said:

"We've been saying for years, if you don't sign Jon Hamm to play this part, you're crazy.

"Captain America is supposed to be the patriarch of the Marvel universe. To get a guy in his early to mid-20s is only thinking about where the character began, not what he ultimately needs to become."

Look how much now we love Evans as Cap and how wrong Ross is.

Hamm has zero interest in playing a superhero. He is in fact happy he has never played a superhero

Now put him as a supervillain. Since Lex is taken, Jon Hamm for Hush.

I could get behind this... As long as we don't go young stud with Cable... Rather see someone who looks like they can beat the crap out of Ryan Reynolds with their bare hands. I'd also be ok with Tom Hardy or Stephen Lang.

Stephen Lang for Cable

Stephen lang would've been my bet 10/15 years ago, but there's no way they're casting someone in their 60's for any x men films, will be minimum 40's and made up to look older.

So glad that mark Julian is actually acknowledging that fabien niceza was actually responsible for creating deadpool and x force as well even if he didn't name him. Niceza was undoubtly more important in creating the cable/deadpool relationship writing on all the old x force stuff as well as cable and deadpool and now deadpool/cable split second.

@batz11

That was a brutal way to lose that game for you guys. Don't worry, the Steelers are going to get smoked this weekend. Looks like Brown is out, Williams is likely out, and Ben has torn ligaments in his shoulder. Manning vs. Brady in the AFC Championship.

@Gusto went into my local comic shop and they were selling a liefeld cover of deadpool/cable:split second #1 for 13 pounds (18 dollars). I actually laughed in their faces especially when one of the staff said they were getting it.

@LEVITIKUZ [frick] Hush he's a boring ass character. The only good part about the whole comic was the art and the fact that EVERY character under the sun was in it. I say Jon Hamm as Lincoln March. That would be explosive.
