One of the more frustrating aspects of Avengers: Age Of Ultron was the sudden and needless death of Aaron Taylor Johnson's Quicksilver. It may be disappointing for some fans to not have the X-Men under the Marvel Studios banner, but it certainly was interesting to see two different takes on the characters in Age Of Ultron and X-Men: Days Of Future Past. As it turns out, X-Men Apocalypse star Evan Peters (who plays Quicksilver in the Fox universe) was also disappointed by the decision to kill off the character. “I was devastated by it,” he said in an interview with Yahoo! Movies. “I really wanted that to keep going. I thought it was cool. I don’t really know why they killed him off. I liked what they did with it, it was different. It was a completely different take on it. He had the Russian accent. I mean, they had this swoopy thing with the lines behind, which I thought was really cool, and I don’t know. I thought it was a cool character.”

Peters elaborated that he had been looking forward to the two characters trying to "one-up" each other in their respective universes as a friendly competition. “I thought it could have been a cool competition,” he said. “Like, ‘Oh, they did that with him and that was awesome. Now we’ve got to try to top that with this.’ It could have been a nice little, I don’t know, motivation.”

While it was only hinted at in Days Of Future PastApocalypse outright confirms that Magneto is Quicksilver's father. Peters also talked briefly on his relationship with Michael Fassbender's Magneto in the upcoming X-Men film, and how Quicksilver's discovery leads to motivating the character.  "That's a big motivation behind Quicksilver getting out of his Mom's basement, trying to find his father and help him out. It's a hard thing, to meet with an estranged father, it's a real thing, so it was interesting to play that side of Quicksilver."

I liked both versions of the characters, in all honesty. Each brought something a little different to the table. Johnson just didn't have as much time to shine, personality-wise.

Oh man, wait, I forgot, I'm not allowed to like both. Let me correct myself.

Quicksilver dying was and still is bullshit.
There was no comprehensible reason for it.

@BritishMonkey - it's a little bit more understandable in the deleted scenes. theres a scene before the twins meet ultron at the church which implies pietro fancies the kids mom and seems to get along with the kid well. so it makes more sense it the context of saving the kid than just saving hawkeye.

@kinghulk - Still sounds a little silly.
But he could have saved Hawkeye and the boy without getting hit by the bullets easy. You can't say he's fast enough to take out a fleet of robots in the blink of an eye and disarm a gun just as fast and then say "wait, he can still die from the bullets that he can outrun no problem."

@BritishMonkey - i see nothing wrong with him getting killed by bullets, he wasent DOFP quicksilver fast. he just wasent quick enough to cover the distance he did to save both the kid and himself although i do agree it is still stupid.

Maybe you'll join the other Quicksilver soon.

They killed him off so that when Wanda reaches full power in Infinity War she can bring him back to life. She's getting stronger and stronger, and I'm sure that's what the Russos were hinting at. They'll bring EVERYONE

@KillEmAll - Plus, Johnson singed a multi-film contract with Marvel. If he was just doing one film, it would have been a one-off deal (post-credits scene in Winter Soldier might not count).

I'm sure there's no reason why he can't come back....
