Movie Trailers - Movies Blog "No, I used the comics as the source material," Fassbender revealed when quizzed about whether or not he looked at the past movies and based his performance off Ian McKellan's portrayal of Magneto. "I'm not a teacher, I'm a pupil," he went on to explain. "Charlie boy is the teacher. ... He sees the potential in this new race... and gathers us all together to fulfill our ultimate powers." Fassbender also compared Charles Xavier to Martin Luther King, Jr, and Magneto to the more incendiary civil rights leader Malcolm X when talking about the 1960's setting of the movie. The actor then offered some more insight on the teams costumes saying that there are two versions of the iconic helmet and that the yellow uniforms don't play a huge part in the movie. "No, that's sort of when we come together as a team." X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, later this year!
