"We're still working on it," Ratner told MTV News

"There were some rights issues," Ratner said. "We actually waited for over a year for the rights to these comic books that were made by independent comic books. There was a lot of owners of these comic books and a lot of people were claiming they had the rights. It's taken a long time but I think we've finally cleared the legal part of it."

"Youngblood" creator Rob Liefeld remains involved in the process as a consultant — "He gave us his input, and it's valuable," Ratner said

"Rob brought it to me. I think Bryan Singer wanted this," he said. "Rob was like, 'My favorite X-Men [movie] is yours.' And you're a comic book geek? So Rob came in and came after me and said, 'I want you to do this comic book. I believe that you could do this great.' I was happy."

"I'm a tenacious guy and I persevere and I don't stop and if I focus it's going to happen," he said. "And I'm focused on it."

@ bleedthefreak

good work,mate.

but i've few things that need to be sorted before this film can be made.

1.keep brett ratner away from all comic properties.

2.don't let rob liefield do the casting, his probably looking for actors with man/woman boobs & f*cked up feet, just like what he draws.

3.how about making other image comics into films i.e spawn,wild cats,wetworks,cyberforce,gen 13 & pitt.

I find it a little hard to believe that Singer or any other big director wanted this.

Both Ratner and Liefeld are hacks. If this ever gets made it will probably be the worst CBM ever.

Brett Ratner is terrible. X-Men 3 was an abomination. And not only that, but guess what horrible movie he's the executive producer of:
