Comic book legend Rob Liefeld is getting a head start on celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his Youngblood comic book.  If you're thinking Liefeld is trying to replicate the development strategy of Deadpool, he writes that's not the case as the project is not currently being sent around to any film studios.  Back in 2009, Reliance purchased the rights to Youngblood from Liefeld in a six-figure deal and hired Brett Ratner to direct but it sounds like film rights are now back with Liefeld.

Liefeld writes on Facebook, "As we approach the 25th anniversary of the launch of Youngblood and Image Comics I am sharing unknown items and relics from its past. I loaded up my Youngblood screenplay available for download on my website. It's not being shopped around, it's for the fans and in all honesty it's how I would launch the book if I had a do-over. Link to my website in my bio."

ABOUT YOUNGBLOOD
Youngblood is a creator-owned superhero title from Rob Liefeld which debuted in 1992 at Image Comics.  At the time of its release, Youngblood #1 was the highest-selling independent comic book of all time, despite scathing reviews from critics.  The series followed a government-sanctoned superhero team and how the general populace would truly react to the existence of superheroes.

YOUNGBLOOD Movie Development: In 2009, a Youngblood movie was in development, with Brett Ratneer attached to direct.

They should make this into a series, or do a Die Hard series. I love his character.

Rob is so desperate. Tried to bandwagon Deadpool like a b*tch.

I know nothing of this team, but I would be stoked if it was a movie. Bringing new characters to the forefront is awesome. Guardians of the Galaxy was the same situation. Relatively unknown group of characters that have been turned to many fans favorite characters in the MCU.

@RancidBane - You don't want to know Youngblood. It is a group of the most generic 90's stereotypes in comic books. There really isn't even a real team of Youngblood because in each new issue Liefeld kept bringing in a secondary Youngblood team, some new recruits, or introduced new characters out of nowhere.

@pesmerga44 - Oh that's nice shame. That could be fixed in a film or series though.

Someone need to write a thesis on how this hack fraud could be one of the most well-succeeded artists of the 90's drawing shit like this.

@Fogs - The way Liefeld drew women was hilarious. Their wastes are so tiny they wouldn't support their upper bodies and their spines would have to be as elastic as Mr. Fantastic to get in those pose positions or their spines would snap.
