Firstly, here is one of the pieces of fan art that started the coversation between Gaspard and Ratner, followed by the tweets that ended in the X-Men: The Last Stand director offering the former WWE wrestler a chance to audition for the role as soon as work on the highly anticipated adaptation begins.

In February 2009, Reliance Big Entertainment acquired the feature film rights to the comic book, and has attached Brett Ratner to direct. "Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and 'Youngblood' is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential," Ratner was quoted telling the trade. "It was a real personal passion project for me, and a lot of people wanted ('Youngblood'), but the amazing thing about the guys at Reliance is the speed with which they're able to move." "Thanks agene". Wow. Just wow. I smell another Sabretooth/Tyler Mane. Such a great actor he didn't even have any lines!

Like weenedrev said, Gen13 would be cool. Or maybe a Planetary tv series... Why waste money on a hack like Rattner to make a movie based on one of the worst comic teams ever (created by Liefield so its crappiness is not surprising)?

Mediocre Director. Mediocre comic. Mediocre character. Mediocre era of comics. Mediocre creator. Wonder how the film will be? Perfect example for those people that scream, "you don't know it will suck." Sometimes in the case of films like this, GI Joe, Air Bender, and Dragonball, yeah you kinda' do.

Ratner should never be allowed in the same city as a CBM again. As far as Shad goes, given the right character and the right director, he might do something good. I won't hate on Shad, but he should stay as far away from Ratner as he can.

Shad can be talented, I saw some of his work when he was down in OVW, while it was still one of WWE's utilized developmental territories. Cryme Tyme really held him back, and WWE dropped the ball on what started to be his solo run. I wish him luck, he is a great talent.

What??? So, is everybody in the. Movie going to constantly squint really hard? How are real people going to take that shape of liefeld drawings? Cgi? Just think of the proportions! This does not compute! How can ratner screw up youngblood when its already so notorious for being a bad comic? My head hurts.....
Cap82
Cap82 - 2/24/2011, 12:41 AM
well, now that I think of it, I may have to watch this. Bad director, bad comic hmmm. This could be a symphony of horrible that could make a great unintentional comedy!!!

The odd thing would be if this somehow beat cap, thor or gl in sales and became known as the greatest comic movie ever.... I may throw up now....

What? Out of all the movies Rattner directed his highest score is 68% on Rotten Tomatoes with Red Dragon. Rush Hour 62%. After the Sunset got 19% and Rush Hour 3 got 20%. this is a guy who made a career out of directing Mariah Carey music videos. I'll say that again: Mariah Carey. And on top of that... Youngblood is sh!t.

Brooklyn Brooklyn! hahahahaha Word UP! I'm pretty sure he can't act but luckily he said audition and not "role". Ratner can shoot shit and make it look somewhat good, at least we can be guarunteed a slightly above average movie that's watchable. That's more of a guaruntee than other filmmakers...Ratners conisistent.

brett ratner should never be aloud near another cbm ever again,no never make another film ever again.

Seriously, who cares? It's only an audition. Even if this guy were perfect for the role in this CBM, Ratner doesn't have the skill to recognize that.

Okay... we have (arguably) the worst creator ever in comics, Rob Liefeld. We have (arguably) the worst director of comic-book movies ever in Brett Ratner. Watch this be the one comic-book movie that truly does an absolutely perfect translation of the comic down to the smallest detail! lol!

weapon X, it was pulled because Marvel and Disney is taking back all rights, on the products. Nick currently had the show, Im pretty sure they have another Xmen planned and im hoping its going to run congruent to Avengers:EMH, and the new Fantastic Four Cartoon coming out. Imagine Avengers , FF and Xmen all co existing in one shared cartoon universe. Avengers has already shown wolvie and Mr Fantastic.

there was a Gen-13 animated "movie" that was really a pilot for a show that never got made. Its not bad, except Flea from RHCP is the voice for Grunge... doesn't fit well, too whiney. That and Rainmaker is only in for like 3 seconds

all you people on here are ignorant bastards. did x3 suck? yes. was it ratner's fault? NO!!!! do any of you even know what a director does? he didn't have anything to do with the story! all he did was direct the actors and decide camera placement and pace of the film. Do you think that a director doesn't have a boss? the producers ruined x3!!!!! do you think a director calls the shots on everything? do you think Ratner was like, "I wan cyclops to die in the first 15 minutes of the film, fu6k him. and i want xaivier to die, i hate that guy." You people are all stupid and i would think that a site where people CLAIM to love film would know that a directing is a job. i went to film school and i learned this. YOU ALL SHOULD TOO!!! i'm an aspiring film maker and if someone offered me to make Care bears the movie, i fu6king would!!! i get my foot in the door and start a resume with a major motion picture, REGARDLESS IF I HATE THE FUC6KING CAREBEARS!!! you people sound like a bunch of morons who think they are sooooo knowledgable on film but look like a bunch of dumb asses. good riddance to you all...
