After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

STARRING:

Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles
Eva Green as Artemisia
Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo of Sparta
Rodrigo Santoro as King Xerxes
Hans Matheson as Aeskylos
Andrew Pleavin as Daxos
Callan Mulvey as Scyllias
David Wenham as Dilios
Jack O'Connell as Calisto
Andrew Tiernan as Ephialtes
Yigal Naor as Darius

HANG ON A SEC.....eye spy with my little eye.....Peter Mensah at 1:24

As it's a prequel, perhaps the same character from '300'....

Or seeing as he is her trainer....a "nod of the hat" cameo for the 'Spartacus' fans...

GF@ I don't quite get the "critically acclaimed" bit either. Just because a few critics may have ranted about it, does that qualify it as being "critically acclaimed"? It scored a 6.1/10 average rating by critics via RT and more top critics found it to be rotten than fresh. Different strokes I guess, but I think its stretching it to rave about the first one being critically acclaimed. Keep in mind...just addressing the critics part of it, being that is what was addressed in the description. General audiences really liked it, so I can get making that claim.

Battle of Thermopylae was in 480 BC, Spartacus lived around 100 BC, Oenomaus was one of his generals so if he was like 300 years old he could really pop in 300 battle :D
