Universal Confirms Plan For THE BOURNE LEGACY And TED Sequels

Despite not being a massive success wither at the box office or with critics, Universal are moving ahead with a sequel to The Bourne Legacy and another instalment of Seth MacFarlane's Ted.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke has confirmed today that the studio are moving ahead with their plans to build new franchises. This year has seen them release Battleship and Snow White and the Huntsman, with the latter set to get a spin-off featuring Thor star Chris Hemsworth. There's no more details on that right now, although Burke confirmed plans for follow-up's to two of their other big 2012 films, The Bourne Legacy and Ted. Fans of animated movies will also be happy to learn that their goal is to "eventually" release two of those a year following the success of Despicable Me.

Ted was funny from begining to end. Seth McFarlane did a great job directing, and writing his first film. And regardless of what people said about The Bourne Legacy, I enjoyed The Bourne Legacy. Jeremy Reener is no Matt Damon, but I can see him taking over the leading role in the Bourne franchise.

The Bourne Legacy didn't feel like a Bourne film...it felt exactly like the X-Files did when Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny left and we were left following 2 other agents, it just felt wrong. It was nice to see what happened after but there was no emotional investment in the characters.

The franchise went from being a smart espionage action adventure to a film about a super soldier trying to find a cure for his mutation...they need to bring back Damon and Greengrass for the next one to make any sort of money and still be taken seriously.

Ted was alright. I wouldn't say it was purely "aimed at the stoner crowd or frat college kids". It had a heart to it, which most comedies today don't.

At the same time though, it didn't make me literally laugh out loud too much.

Ted was hilarious, but it fell apart in the third act. It took a turn for the weird. That kept it from "comedy classic" status IMO. Say what you want about stoner/frat humor, it's still funny. Also, the trailer made it pretty damn obvious that was centered around that kind of humor. If you're the type of person that hates that sort of thing and you STILL saw it, I don't know what to tell you. Anyhow, it did as well as it did (and yes, $400 million is good) because it was something new (The "Maker of Family Guy" thing helped too, no doubt). There's so little of that these days.

Ted was awesome, surprised that Universal are going ahead with Bourne though, they must be really low on credible franchises now.

Ted was great, Bourne Legacy was TERRIBLE. The wholething felt like only and act and a halfof actual story but it was long as hit.

one sequel to the hangover bud, there working on a 2nd. Ted was best comedy in a long time, mostly dick and fart jokes but hey it's what sells and its what most of us enjoy, the jokes not the dicks:)

I was really disappointed with Bourne Legacy, the movie ended too abruptly and I walked out feeling as though I'd only seen half a movie. I don't think Jeremy Renner did a bad job, I just didn't feel as emotionally invested in his character as I did with Matt Damon's character. They could probably justify a sequel with a better script, but I'm not sure where else they could go with it plot-wise.

Bourne Legacy was brilliant, it did fall a bit flat at the climax but was still good, oh and its not a Jason Bourne film so god knows why that comparison always springs up? why would he go up against Bourne when they are both treadstone escapees?

Ted was dick & fart jokes. I'd totally watch a sequel. I'd like to see Damon versus Renner in a Legacy sequel.

@Levitkuz... Are you from the future? Because in 2012 there's only been ONE sequel to The Hangover, but yes it was nearly identical. The third doesn't come out until next year, hasn't even been shot yet, but somehow you know it's just like the other two??? Please explain time-traveling man...

if the same people of Ted (Family Guy) are into the project i will watch it altough they are working on a Family Guy Movie like Seth Marcfalen (or how ever you spell it) he said it at Comic-Con when was ask.
The Bourne Legecy was completly DogShit the action was horrible and the script was out of the place, okay it wasnt dogshit it just wasnt good the worst "Bourne" movie by far, but yes a sequel if the actors stayed and the director and writing leaves and matt damon to join w/ aaron cross(jeremy renner) the only good thing of Bourne Legecy is the actors

Bourne Legacy was frikken genius, opened the scope of the universe by showing how far the original Treadstone project had gone and with that a world of new potential. Chemically enhanced agents, genetically enhanced agents and in the back Jason Bourne, still out there and now in the headlights of Aaron Cross. Would have loved to see more LARX agents but now that they've contained the spill from Bourne Ultimatum, the next movie will no doubt have tons of them!

A sequel to this stuff is the best news of the day!
